I am skeptical about our ability to "unlock" Kuminga if the Warriors couldn't. I'm also not big on guys that are athletic but have poor BBIQ. I'd prefer we pass.

Dude avg 17 ppg in one of his seasons at 20 years old. Have you even watched any GSW games? Enjoy this highlight vs US . Great Defense on KD lol

Kuminga when playing 30 minutes (this was from 12/2024 game **So only a couple months in season) season (5 games) : 28.2 ppg 8.0 rpg 2.6 apg and 53% FG / 38% 3 PT / 65% FT splits.

Also Steve Kerr is stubborn and will hold grudges on players.

Only way u would trade Dunn is if Kuminga salary was under 20 million to get max value AND you had another defensive dog like Marcus Smart.

You can't get rid of any defensive dogs on this team. You only have 2, maybe 3: Brooks and Dunn. Maybe Goodwin, but he hardly plays. Kuminga is anything but a defensive dog.

I really wanted Marcus Smart. Perfect next to Booker and Brooks. *IF* you had Marcus Smart on the team and Kuminga came at lower cost, I'd do this trade.

Most likely outcome is the boring one: He signs the $8 million Qualifying Offer before October 1st and sits on the bench for a year while some random team like the Nets sign him next season for about $60 million --- way less than he was gonna make with Suns $90 million cause his value got trashed by the Warriors.

Not saying you are right or wrong but we really need to avoid using YouTube mixtapes of players as evidence they are good. Virtually Every player in the league has a YouTube mix tape of how great they are when we all know more than half the league is filled with marginal players. Did Payton avg this in a playoff series? Difference between 1 game and multiple.

Hot Take: Oso is a much better power forward than Kuminga. You want a new power forward? Start Oso.

Thinking you are missing the original point.

But to your point, the Warriors got their as$es handed to them, Curry was out in that series you pointed out. And it was only a five game series. Lots of players ball out in stretches of 5-10 games but doesn’t mean they are superstars in the making.

I’m not sold on him becoming anything more than what he already is. This team’s cap is already a disaster so I’m not interested in having an overpaid player that the other team is trying to move and isn’t interested in paying either.

Personally I think we are all wasting our time taking about this. GS doesn’t want to pay him but they sure aren’t interested in our last crumbs we call assets. So common sense, says this Kuminga to Phx ain’t happening either way

I am totally fine with that offer. It's $22.5M per year, that's fair money for a player with his potential.

The GSW are offering him $45M/2 years but with less guaranteed money and they aren't giving him a big role or any player option.

Obviously Kuminga wants to sign with the Suns and I think the GSW would need to get our offer. Allen + Richards + two 2nds is fine because they need another perimeter role player and some help at C.

Yeah, they are gonna sign Horford but he is super old and they need another big + him.

IDK...I think our offer is fair for a sign&trade. If they "hate" Allen we can someway trade O'Neale + Richards + someone else if the salaries work.

I wouldn't trade Dunn at all. No way and I am pretty sure that we aren't putting his name out there. We didn't put him on the market for Butlerlast year, even less this season for Kuminga.

Allen and Richards is $22m going out . The most the Warriors can take back is $13m because of the BYC rules. So for the Suns to make a trade with the Warriors - it would be Royce and Oso. The Warriors probably want Royce and Dunn. But because the Suns have 22m coming in and only 13m going out - that could push them above the first apron - I think they are about 8 to 9m away from that. Granted, Richards can get them back under apron levels

Granted, my numbers can be slightly off about what can go out. Like I think Dunn and Royce would work -- but the Suns should keep Dunn. The premise is the same - its not dollar for dollar like other trades.

If that's the case the GSW should accept O'Neale +Richards + two 2nds for Kuminga.

It’s a fair offer and O'Neale can really help them. A couple of 2nds are always a nice addition and Richards would given then depth at PF/C.

We would improve our roster and our chances for the next few years with Kuminga on the roster. At that salary I doubt he would be a bad contract because $22.5M is not a big gamble for a player like him.

We will see. Kuminga can wait until 1st Oct and sign the QO. That's the most possible outcome IMO.

22 mil is not that bad, you are right. If he were getting 30 or more a year, It would be a hell no. I wouldn't give up Dunn at any cost, and Im not sure I would give them Oso. They need to find a way to turn O'Neale + Richards and seconds into this deal. Weather they have to find a third team to take one on those and give different value or whatever. Or just let them go into the season with a pissed off player.

Marc J. Spears:

The Phoenix Suns trade offer for Jonathan Kuminga, per @MarcJSpears

— Royce O’Neale
— Nick Richards
— 4 2nd round picks

The GSW needs to accept it. Rock solid offer.

Other than the Kings, there is no demand for Kuminga. That’s actually, probably the best deal out there for GS. I would have preferred to dump Allen instead of Royce but it is what it is.

*note: 4 2nd draft picks included is beyond idioitic! Ishbia and his goons still haven’t learned anything. Stupid deal for the Suns, Great deal for the Warriors. GS need to take that deal, call Ishbia up and thank him on speaker phone and have everyone in the background quietly laughing at Ishbia and giving Ishbia the middle finger like the scene from Wolf of Wall Street!

Jonathan Kuminga updates:

- Kings, Suns offered up to 4 years, $90M in sign-and-trade deals
- Warriors want unprotected first-round pick
- Suns offered Royce O'Neale, Nick Richards, 4 second-round picks
- Warriors believe he will be on roster to start next season

FROM SHAMS:

Golden State made renewed push to retain Jonathan Kuminga, but the RFA continues to decline a two-year, $45 million offer due to Warriors insistence on a team option and waiving a built-in no-trade clause, sources tell ESPN.

Kuminga starting in place of Dunn will weaken the defense, which is already questionable with Booker and Green. Throwing every remaining 2nd rnd pick at a position of no need. Suns gonna Suns.

Return to Phoenix Suns
