Big fan of the Bieber trade. It's a gamble as we don't know how he's going to look coming back from surgery, but the Jays needed to add a top of the rotation starter in a bad way. If Bieber is healthy and back to his old self, then he's starting Game 1 of a playoff series. Exactly what they needed. Rotation is a huge weakness that has been somewhat hidden by great defense behind them, but Bieber adds real upside.

I also wouldn't be surprised if they end up working out an extension sometime after the season if all goes well, assuming both sides want to get it done. Of course a lot depends on how he looks on the field.

yeah so Nimmala +. That's too steep for me.

Two more years of Arb control for him though.

He wasn't a flame thrower, he just knows how to pitch so I don't think TJ surgery will take that away. They said in his rehab his fastball got up to 94, that's what basically what he was before. I'm very optimistic about this trade and I believe he will be back to somewhat close to his old self if not all the way back.

Tricky position. If you focus on Bednar and don't get him a lot of alternatives may no longer be available. Maybe it would be better to pivot to guys like Maton and Jax. Still unclear if the Padres are willing to move Suarez now that they have Miller...
