When you have a 1st place team this late in the season it’s time to go all-in. At minimum they have to add an impact bullpen arm.

The previous teams were better than this one, check the run differentials.

Can't see the Orioles dealing him, he's way too good and there's no reason that Orioles team won't be contending next year.

No he does not. Same with Castro. Morosi must just mean "options", not "good options".

Versus lefties recently we have had to play Jimenez to start. We lack RHB's outside of the core starters.

So there is clearly a role for Tommy Pham to start vs LHP's, and he wouldn't cost much.
Is this a major needle mover - clearly no. But getting a RHB of this caliber is a simple low cost move for the team.

Part our strength has been massaging the lower level starters / bench players into the lineuo, and Pham would help in this regard as we lack Right Hand Bats.

Problem is he only plays LF and we already have a good RHB there in Davis. Also he hasn't been very good vs LHP this year.

I'm good with it. Gives us an experienced leadoff guy (though we could have put springer back at the top). As long as the price is reasonable.

I don't.

But he fits exactly how the Jays were playing...hard to get out...fouls off lots of pitches.

But man, the Jays are never in this position to possibly win the AL. I really thought they would surprise with 2 big deals

They'll want Nimalla ++ or Yesavage ++, if not both.

I think it was Schneider who said that they're never putting Springer at leadoff again after his down-year last season and how great he's been so far this season. He was probably joking a bit, but also I think he was probably not really joking at all.

Not sure Kwan is the guy to target. We already have a bunch of good defenders, we already have bunch of contact hitters, and we already have a bunch of left handed hitters.

It just feels like the Jays FO are sitting there going "well its the NL that is getting most of these guys so we can still compete with AL and keep our prospects. And we are adding Varsho to this group too. No need to change the good vibes".

But I think it's a real missed opportunity if they don't more.

Wow the Padres got O'Hearn and Laureano? The return should be interesting.

The Blue Jays woke up on deadline day seeking more bullpen help, starting pitching depth and potentially a bat.
After acquiring Shane Bieber, they are not done, a league source said, with two hours until the deadline. At the very least, bullpen remains a priority. Though the Jays asked on Mason Miller, they were priced out by the Padre’s massive offer, a source said. Duran was seen as more attainable, with Toronto holding the top prospects to acquire him, but he’s now the Phillies closer.
Other top relief options continue to fall off the board — including David Bednar to the Yankees — but many arms remain.

Through almost 10 years, this FO has never given any indication of wanting to trade valuable pieces for rentals that can only change their odds insignificantly in their models and there's no reason to think that would change this year. They'll be looking for multi-year guys or bargains.
