New Team: Curry/Duncan vs Lebron/Dirk
Which duo would you rather build around in todays league?

Young LeBron with today's spacing would be ridiculous. Dirk would probably double his 3PA. I suspect he'd also play center.
Curry has less of an advantage starting in the established era he invented, and I see less growth opportunities for Duncan than Dirk, although he'd also have an easier time scoring.

Re: New Team: Curry/Duncan vs Lebron/Dirk
Man this idea that some significant part of what made Steph (or the Warriors) special is just that the league wasn't ready for them or that they were ahead of their time is getting a little overblown at this point.
Teams still can't guard Steph, a decade after the first title. Yeah they for the most part stopped using drop coverage against the PNR or leaving big men on an island, but it's just opened up advantages elsewhere in the offense. There's only so much you can do against a guy who can pull up from literally anywhere, whether it's during his breakout season or 15 years into a HOF career.
All that being said LeBron Dirk would be a nasty duo

Either, both, YES!

I see good arguments for both

Dirk is not far enough off Duncan and Curry to cover the fact that he is paired with LeBron who is clearly the best player here

Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy

Both are nasty, but LeBron in this era, his versatility + spacing + Dirk’s crazy O is just too much to pass up.
