Hard to doubt this FO but holy meh. Would’ve thought we’d get a little more value than that given nestor’s pedigree

Before this year, Cortes was probably slightly better than Peralta over the previous 4 seasons. Sucks that he got hurt, but I guess there's not much they could do. Maybe trade Quintana instead and let Cortes pitch, knowing that Freddy, Woodruff, Mis, and Priester are the playoff rotation if Cortes doesn't bounce back?

Just doesn't seem optimal, but the injury is the main factor - and saving some money I guess?

Hopefully get a haul for Freddy this winter

I would have been fine moving Quintana or Cortes, and they just moved Cortes. But they're gonna need all the cost controlled pitching they have once Woody, Quintana, and Peralta are gone this winter.

Sure, but if this is all they got for Cortes, I would have been totally comfortable trading Quintana instead. Lots of arms in the minors to patch together a rotation if necessary, plus Hall and Ashby have been excellent long relievers who can easily give you 3-4 strong innings, which is practically a starter nowadays.

I wonder if this was a favor of some sort to Nestor if he may have asked out similar to Civale if the Brewers weren't going to give him an opportunity to start

Sometimes you have to give up a former all star starting pitcher if you want to get an elite pinch runner.

I'm bringing my diehard Bucks cynicism to the Brewers board, where it is 1000% not warranted. I'm sure this guy's going to hit .300 with 50 SBs the rest of the way.

Definitely could be. They were talking on the broadcast about a 6 man rotation in August. Heavy schedule, trying to go easy with Mis and Woody. If they go that route it's probably Patrick or Henderson added to the rotation.

Just keep Cortes and pitch him long relief if that's all they could get back for him. Woof

I also cannot blame any fans who are disappointed/angry after today. Did any contending team accomplish less than the Brewers today?

I consider adding Vaughn 2 weeks ago to be a deadline deal

Hey we snuck one in. Is he useful again? Didn't we have him in the organization a couple years back?
