Well he’s having a good year and doesn’t give up homers. Not a great track record though from previous years.

That previous track record was when he was still starting a lot of games. His velo is up this year along with the much better metrics and performance as a full time reliever.

Really hope he works out. Not a big fan of giving up Rojas and Roden. But there is Ty France to fall back on…

Yeah, hard to complain about this guy being under control for years. You’d like to see more Ks but it’s why they parted with Rojas.

Don’t think Roden had much value at his age.

Didn’t realize he was that **** I remember he was an allstar years ago. So underwhelming. Thought a first place team would be hitting homers at the deadline. But I guess it’s fitting that we’re just going for singles.

Not impressed by Ty France. He was released twice in 2024, and is not the same player he once was. Anyone could have signed him in the off-season, and the Twins signed him for a million bucks. When it is all said and done, Yankees will be leading the AL East. Very impressed what they did at the deadline today.

Better bullpen, starting pitch and offense on paper than the Jays. Everyone goes through a rough patch, and when Judge comes back next week- I expect the Yankees to take off. Disappointed overall with the Jays moves. The moves were okay, but I wish they could have made a bigger splash. Bednar went for a very reasonable price to New York. Other guys also that they could have targeted.

True. And he was behind Loperfido at this point.

I mean I'm not impressed if this was our prized bat, but it's much less awful than us letting go of Wagner and leaving that spot open. End of the day I think France fits better than Wagner so I don't mind getting him, especially when I thought the deadline was already over & we just dilly dallied.

No. Apparently the Red Sox made a “late push” for him, tho.

Idk why we didn’t go after more power though… I mean we’re a good contact hitting team and good with risp, would’ve been nice to add another power bat to clear the bases when needed… whatever man idk it is what it is

Pretty upsetting that we couldn't acquire a single big name (Bieber doesn't count), given that we're in contention.

Agreee I thought for sure we’d go after a big name. We struck out on all of them. All of the rivals got them. Freaks me out. Reminds me of 2015 when the blue jays were only 500 but went all in for tulo and price and then leapfrogged the Yankees for number 1.

Now we’re number 1 but all the teams under us like Yankees and mariners made heavy moves and now look better

Blair and Barker had David Price on the show this afternoon. Reliving the trade, his famous drive from Detroit to Toronto, his Rogers center debut with the crowd going crazy. He went 9-1 with about 2.30 ERA. Jays went from a few games back to running away with the pennant. Price was affable and well spoken, loved the Jays and the fans and the city (I know, he left, but sounded sincere. )

I still remember the excitement of that deadline, and that team. Blair said something I'd forgotten about, he opined that if Brett Cecil didn't get hurt that team would have won the WS.
There goes my hero. Watch him as he goes.

We didn't need an everyday guy, just a better option than Schneider, Jimenez and Straw vs lefties and France is exactly that. He's not what he once was but it's still better than the platoon RHBs we have.

France sucks, but he bats right handed which is basically what they were looking for in a bench guy since we don't have too many of them.

eh, I think it was fine. they don't have the type of farm system to completely go all-in/gut it and take on more risk prospect-wise like other teams, especially when the asking price for what they were after was probably insane. the major thing was backing up the pen and they did it at a reasonable cost.

they do have varsho/springer back and kirk soon enough too. and maybe santander as well sometime in august or sept.

it's gonna be on the team to keep playing like they did in june/july and they can certainly do it or at least keep their head above water.

We couldn't find a RH bat that had like over a .700 OPS vs lefties lmao I thought France had strong splits at least lmao

Yes. Before the Twins went full seller mode there was some talk that Varland was good enough that they could afford to trade Duran.

I can't imagine they think Ty France is the big RH bat. I suspect they are counting on Santander for that.
