seeing this they are probably trying to extend Mitch around 15 MM per. That would give them a little wiggle under the 2nd apron.
I don't know. Looking at that chart it seems like the Knicks would be $18.6M under the 2nd apron for just 8 players not including Dadiet's team option or their possible 2026 1st round pick. If the Knicks want to continue to operate under the 2nd apron next year Mitch might need to sign at closer to $10M or less in the first year of his contract if they want to be able to fill out the rest of the roster. Even then players 9-14,15 may all be vet mins/rookie vet mins.
I wonder if they would entertain trading Mitch for a cheaper more reliable replacement if they can't come to an agreement this year or if they are willing to go over the 2nd apron next year.
Definitely they will. That’s how they operate. Guys like Quickley and Randle weren’t willing to take what the team offered so they got moved.
I expect the same with Mitch. He’s a bit hard to evaluate too, because he’s kinda injury prone. But, I really do like him and if he’s given this off-season to get healthy, he’s gonna kill it next year.
