39 saves for Duval a couple of years ago so he is used to late inning situations

Yah, I'm pretty happy with it. We kept most of our top guys. Schittler, Jones, Lombard are still around. Replacing Peraza at bats will be huge. Some Volpe insurance. Goodbye to Devin Williams and his choking next year.
Right now, we're gonna see if Boone can deliver. Lots of platoon guys. Versatile players too.
Still need Judge to come back healthy in the worst way. A lot of the relievers we got had some bumps in their journey, so hopefully they keep going.
Think we're going to sit out the next offseason, I'm guessing. Rice, Jazz, McMahon seem fine. I'd love to upgrade Volpe but I guess he might become a Lombard placeholder at this rate. Belli, Judge, Jasson. Can't see them going after Kyle Tucker.

We warned them

I think they see Leiter, Bird, and Devin similarly...dudes who have had bad luck. I don't know...Leiter and Devin seem like huge ass chokers to me, and Leiter for more than a season.

I don't get the Williams hate. He's only blown two saves this year? 17/19 It was a slow start but, he went 21 innings without giving up a HR. I missed a lot of the early games though. Was he that bad?
We have a deep pen now. He shouldn't be a problem anymore whatever it was.
Leiter sucked from day one.
Bird offers a lot of breaking stuff from what I'm hearing. He's another arm but, not are what to get from him.

I think the best way to put it is that he went 21 innings like that, but still has a 5.0 ERA. I think you are right about the home run statistic though. Usually when he loses, it's because he's allowing a bunch of singles and walks. When we almost lost that game against the Rays the other night, I was like...yep, Devin Williams. He's not the only guy who struggled initially, but at least someone like Bellinger has legit turned his season around.
I think the statistics feel misleading here, and I'm shocked he only is credited with 2 blown saves right now. He definitely lost us a lot of games before his first blown save on 4/25. For example, on 5/5, he loaded the bases, got taken out for Luke Weaver, and then we would lose the game cause Weaver gave up a hit. Somehow, he'd got credited with a hold for that when he was responsible for that loss. Or on 4/19, when he got charged with 3 earned runs in late innings, and we ended up losing in extra innings, but somehow he didn't get a statistic for that.
I do feel much better that there are better relievers around though.

Fair enough. I missed a lot of the first two months. Hopefully he gets it together and we can trust him. We have Weaver/Bednar/Doval to use in that spot if/when needed.

Yah. Bednar doesn’t walk a lot of people, which is pretty nice. I’m just spoiled by Mo and Dave Robertson, tbh.
Boone said Williams is the closer still and it looks like FO thinks he’s been extraordinarily unlucky so we’ll see, I guess.
