- Johnson also said with regards to CB Jaylon's timetable, there's a scenario where JJ will be ready week 1
- Gervon prefers nose tackle and he's playing that position more this year; being next to Grady helps Dex stay low

late edit: all this except the Dexter info can be heard during Ben's presser about 2 hr ago; he also talked about Burden, Frazier, etc

And apparently CW is cooking. I understand being cautious, but I think the pessimism surrounding Caleb is disproportionate to what hes shown.

The good ones usually show you they can play immediately. Burden and Loveland seem to be doing that. Development is overrated. That said, they could come out of the gate slow and it’s not like that right away in NFL games. Yet it looks outwardly like they are excellent players.

The Bears aren’t throwing many deep balls in camp. But from what I have been reading, Caleb hasn’t missed many.

I've always liked Terrel Smith.
But to be fair, I've always disliked Tyrique.

Smith has outplayed his spot on the depth chart his entire career and has great size. I think the thing that has worked against him a bit is that when he has gotten an opportunity to be a CB2, he wasn't anything special. Not bad by any means, but nothing that makes you say "we have to play him as much as possible"

That's my impression too. He allows some completions, but he doesn't make as many egregious mistakes as Tyrique. But not as many big plays as Tyrique either.

Aside from DJ, Rome, and Burden, we may see some good things out of Zaccheaus too. And that UDFA WR keeps making plays as well.

Aside from noting the Bagency, number 87 gets such smooth separation from the highlights I have seen. He gets on top of DBs, and gears higher.

Exactly what I thought.

Burden seems like he needs a tough coach like Ben to get the most out of him too.

You don't need to overspend on WRs when you have a QB that can make any WR look good

I don't know. KC sure took a step back in the passing game when they lost Tyreek and then their other top WR.

Burden could easily become the WR1 on this team. His ceiling is as high as anyone's.

They won the superbowl, then followed it up with an AFC championship. They've been fine

Talent was never a question with LB. Staying focused and healthy were. So I'm a bit on pins and needles with him; this coming from a MU fan whose seen the best and worst from LB.
TGibson (1/28/17); "..."a 4 or 5 on a scale of 1 to 10 for drama"...What's the worst? "...yelling matches with Thibs, everybody is just going crazy and I'm just sitting there...like, 'Don't call my name please..."

Well he looks like DJ Delux. If LB learns how to be a pro with his availability and consistency, gotta believe that DJ will become trade bait after this year. Assuming LB and CL pan out, LB, CL and Odunze are more than enough to have an excellent range of skill position stock in any high performance offense. Put an above average quarterback and OC in charge, and the Bears could have an almost prototype situation across the board someday. And it’s relatively cheap on the cap even after they pay Darnell Wright. Should be a pretty straightforward maintenance plan to put some young interior O-linemen into the pipeline along with replacing Swift.

My biggest concern with Burden is his attitude when the season starts. He’s ramping up now but if he’s not getting targets or as many looks, will he throw a tantrum? Will
He become a distraction? Hopefully our team can work thru that.

OT: It looks like Micah Parsons wants out of Dallas. We are a year away from looking for the final piece.

I seriously doubt that the Cowboys trade Parsons away. Jerry does this negotiation garbage every time a great player's contract comes up. Then he pays them goes back as far as E Smith he loves the attention .

Everyone eats in a Ben Johnson offense nothing to be concerned about.

It would be crazy for them to trade him. That said, the EDGE prices have skyrocketed and I think caught DAL off-guard.

I remain most interested in Caleb, but the other stuff sounded good too!
