He seems like a guy where a coaching change could make the biggest difference. He just felt a little out of rhythm with the team last year.

 I guess that would be the other way to put it. OG too, apparently.

Our wings got Thibs fired.
One of Brown's earliest comments was, "I"m not trading our wings."
Let's hope that means he values them and not that he's afraid of them getting him fired LOL.

I don't see why we still can't trade for Giannis if that's what he wants. Mikals decent contract would absolutely not be a deal breaker

At least he took some sort of discount. But it's still a massive bag we gave him. He needs to fix his 3 point shot. That broken shot is on him, no one else. 33% from 3 in the playoffs is unacceptable. And passing up layups for contested middies. He has quite the work to do to live up to his contract.

Giannis to the Knicks was pretty remote. Too many other teams have the picks to include a deal IF he ever decides to leave.

It's a slim chance but i would never say never. Pretty much all of our trades lately seemed unrealistic. Getting the Nets to trade us Mikal, trading Randle right before training camp, trading RJ right after his extension, etc. Knicks seem to find a way by any means and I think that's a big reason why there's always going to be rumors regarding Giannis and the Knicks imo.

I say there a fair chance the Bucks record will be mid by early next year....I wouldn't be surprised if by that time Giannis will want to revisit the thought of playing for the Knicks. But if not ...we'll be fine.

Mikal can't be traded for several months now that he's been extended and I think Giannis wants to play with Miles Turner, at least, for now. A trade deadline deal is possible, I suppose. But that's a wait and see how things work out situation.

The Knicks very rarely give player options, only the top 4 highest paid players on the team have player options. And if you include Yabalasee basically everyone they signed not on the minimum over the past 2 years has had a player option.

Correction, Precious Achiuwa didn’t have a player option.

This front office overpays for everyone and everything.

But no Precious Achiuwa player option, in Leon we trust!

He'll always be in my heart for his defense against the Celtics. I rarely jump outta my seat and he made me do it twice.

When you properly contextualize this deal to the 2026-2027 cap, it's basically great as long as Bridges is what he was last year. If he's better, it becomes a steal. And s long as he's not catastrophically injured, it's completely tradable.

Quick math (don't hold me to this), has this extension as slightly more than 20% of the 26-27 cap ($165.5M est). That puts it in the same category as

Khris Middleton, 5/$70M deal in 2015
Mike Conley, 3/$68M deal in 2021
Anfernee Simons, 4/$100M deal in 2022
Jalen Brunson, 4/$106M deal in 2022
RJ Barrett, 4/$107M deal in 2023

And its notably less than the multi year deals signed in the last 3-4 years by Kristaps Porzingis (BOS), CJ McCollum (NOP), Jerami Grant (POR), Jordan Poole (GSW), and Julius Randle (NYK, 2nd one)

we traded so much for him that I guess we had to. I don't think he was good last year. But maybe he will play better under a different coach/system

Great deal, ~$25M a year is great value for him. The ~+$10M bonus for getting Thibs fired is just the icing on the cake.

Until then lets enjoy that $150m form

I kid. I kid.

He was part of some of the best moments last year. What he did in the Celtic series was legendary. Hopefully he can fix his 3 form this offseason and get to the ft line a lil more. couple those things with his continued elite defense he will be a key contributor to the success of the team. Or he won't and there will be hell to pay.
