Quentin Grimes S&T to Brooklyn
Looking around at teams that don't have any promising young shooting guards and do have cap space, I identified Brooklyn. Since they are almost 20 million below the cap, I think they could offer a smaller contract back to Philly with some value. They are probably reluctant to trade one of their new draft picks.
What about Quentin Grimes S&T 3 years 66 million. for Dariq Whitehead and a future 2nd round pick? Sixers get under the first apron and Nets get a promising young guard on a reasonable deal.

True, but based on what Grimes did I would rather have him than Thomas. He should be flippable, e.g. maybe Milwaukee would do Kuzma and a pick in the 2026 offseason.

Maybe they view Demin as a wing, but he has played point primarily up to this point. Traore and Saraf are also considered to be point guards primarily. Mann has also played roughly half his career at SG and half at SF.
I like Cam Thomas, but he isn't signed yet, and he strikes me as more of a one dimensional scorer who has the ability to take over a game (like a Lou Williams or Jamal Crawford). Those types of players are typically not as beneficial to teams that are trying to build from the bottom up.

Re: Quentin Grimes S&T to Brooklyn
I don’t think Philly matches that contract, so no reason for Brooklyn to give them much of anything.
Some were hyping Whitehead up before. But I don’t think he holds much value? So think this is fine.
Just don’t really get it for Brooklyn. They should be tanking as hard as possible this season and trying to keep as much cap flexibility as possible.

Re: Quentin Grimes S&T to Brooklyn
If the Nets are willing to pay Grimes that much, the Sixers aren't matching.

If anyone offers quentin grims that type of money, he should jump on it immediately. He got all the shots he could handle while the team went 4-24. Good on him for maxing his moment in the sun, but we've seen this movie before.

Re: Quentin Grimes S&T to Brooklyn
Brooklyn still has ~$20M in cap space, no? Seems to me if they want Grimes and are willing to give him this kind of money they can just sign him and dare Philly to match.

They could dare to match and Philly could roll the dice and match, given the likely tradeability of such a contract. But if that's not exactly in their long term plans, but they want to get something out of it, they could ask Brooklyn for some sort of consolation prize like Whitehead plus second to ensure that they won't match. Grimes is much better on defense than Cam Thomas and lower usage.

The Sixers are currently at $180M in payroll. They're not matching a $20M per contract on Grimes with the hope that he plays his way to positive on that contract.

Sure. If the Nets are willing to pay him that, I guess that's better than just letting him walk (and I'd let him walk on that salary, that's crazy)

Can Dallas and Philly redo their trade? Martin for Grimes?
Dallas dumps Hardy else where

No, but if you wanna give us PJ or Gafford I'm down (Sixers need frontcourt help bad)

Depending what additional minor value Philly chips in you could probably build something around Dre/Grimes for Gafford? Some third team taking Powell or Hardy depending on how much Grimes makes?
But probably not a deal Dallas looks at in real life. Think they choose Christie over Grimes.. don’t agree with it but money matters.

+1, especially not when Grimes would be behind Maxey, Edgecombe, and McCain in the pecking order for minutes/touches/shots.

So where does Grimes end up?
