there was a report near the start of the off season that the knicks were talking to teams about a potential deal for both mikal and mitch

He was a difference maker in the playoffs. More than once. Maybe you missed that.

In any case, it's another overpay for a role player, but the Knicks have their #1 (Brunson) and #2 (KAT) in place, so overpaying for elite role players who fit is the correct decision, especially since the East is pretty weak and even more wide open now that the Celtics have dismantled their team and Tatum will miss most (if not all) of next season.

The problem is Mikal and OG are the same player meaning both 3&D wings who can’t create their own offense. The Knicks are now paying $80m/yr for this.

Sad! But true. Awful roster construction.

Still possible with Brunson, OG, KAT, every pick they can possibly traded, and 10% of the team.

What would be the point of that from a Giannis perspective? From a talent perspective, if that traded happened, Giannis would be in a worse situation at New York than he currently is at The Knicks.

Anyhow as DaGawd reported earlier, Giannis is happy and content at Milwaukee and won't be asking for a trade.

Also Brunson should never be traded by the Knicks, he has made them a power again and he left so much money on the table to help The Knicks build a contending team. You don't trade guys like that (unless it's for a pipe dream like Wemby which would never happen)

Which is exactly why we keep saying a Giannis trade isn't happening but nobody wants to listen

It is a bad thing when you’re collectively paying them around $80M per season and neither can create their own shot.

Mikal singlehandedly won us 2 games down the stretch on the defensive end. As one of the elite defensive players with offensive upside (see his time with Brooklyn), Mikal is definitely worth the contract.

This gives the New York Knicks a possible 4-year window to go to the Finals and compete for a ring.

Glad Knicks fans are happy with this signing. This current team has no shot at a title but it is better than what Knicks fans have been conditioned to accept.

Now bring Landry home. I’m thrilled with this offseason. Knicks are favorites to come out of the East.

Anunoby when healthy is a higher impact player than Bridges.
Bridges is just rock solid and always available.
I agree it's the correct decision. Not my money so $pend $pend $pend.
I like this iteration of the team, so keep them together as long as possible.

However, having not 1 but 2 elite defensive wings that can get you 20+ points on any given night is a rarity in the NBA and why the Knicks reached the ECF and are in position to compete for a chance to go to the finals.

Do you really think, Knicks' captologist extraordinaire Brock Aller, hasn't planned out the next 4 years in advance? Because once the NY Knicks sign Mitchell Robinson, that's exactly what this team's windows is to win a reach the Finals and compete for a Chip.

Iron man, high-teens scorer on bleh/average efficiency, which isn't the woooorst for his role/volume, but could be better. Pretty solid defender. Was All-D first team just a couple seasons back. Nice mid-range game.

It's not amazing stuff, but I mean, he's a key part of their roster and he's a good player.
