I never liked Marcus when he played for the Celts. Some people have bad Ju-Ju about them...

Just learned that the NBA is subsidizing the WNBA and the WNBA has never turned a profit in its 28-year history.

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Man, I don't bet on sports but I was just looking at win total odds on Draft Kings and the Raptors projected win total is 32.5 ... That seems like an easy over. The East is so weak and the Raps have a bunch of guys ready to step up and turn the corner.

I'd be shocked if Raptors do not win more than 33 games. I'm not going to bet on it, I don't even have a sportsbook account, but that seems like a really likely occurence. So I'm making the call here on the forum so that when Toronto goes 42-40 or whatever, I can come back and gloat, lol

This is disgusting and low.
Don't degrade the WNBA.

A BAN is next.

I'll answer this only because it's a question that makes sense.
My understanding is that it took 40 years for the NBA to become profitable.

I don't understand why they keep going when they're in the red?

Any other business industry would have shut it down.

Appreciation. It's just like real estate investments, landlords often lose money every month but the property appreciation, particularly on their highly leveraged equity, still makes it worth it in the long run.

Most NBA teams weren't profitable for a long time, but the owners were banking on increasing popularity and associated revenue to raise the valuation. Eventually it worked, so now we have the C's being sold for $6b and the Lakers for $10b. WNBA owners are banking on a similar trend. Of course it may end up a bad investment (e.g. the XFL) but that's the risk they take.

Precisely why fans shouldn’t be scared about lux tax payments. Wyc bought the team for 360 million and sold for 6 billion.

I don’t think that is true. Most businesses start of unprofitable, even huge publicly traded companies. What’s important is that there is a path to profitability.
I don’t know the details of this situation at all, but just because there is t a profit turned is not a reason to shut something down.

I am not a gambler either…or at least that’s what I tell myself. I’d take the under.
