Other than Barger, he’s the only guy on this team who hits for any power at all with Springer out

What can I say? Varsho coming back automatically brings a malaise to this team and lineup. They all start hacking like him, try to copy his plate discipline, and start performing like Mendoza Level hitters. They revert back to how they were hitting before Varsho got hurt.
That is the intangible of Varsho that is often overlooked, and the malaise he brings to the offense. Give him a day off tomorrow and put Straw in at CF. Hopefully tomorrow brings a better result.

Why exactly is Ty France on this team? With speed like that he can't play anything other than 1st and he can't hit. Waste of a roster spot.

Another bad throw by Heineman to (likely) cost them a run, no Kirk kills us

Loperfido is reverting to his norm after his own unsustainable hot streak, Davis will be back in the lineup tomorrow fortunately to bail us out

Stroman was released by the Yankees, should we bring home? Try him out of bullpen.

It's one less guy on base so guys try to do more to compensate. When we were rolling it was a bunch of guys with the mentality of getting on base by any means necessary and keeping the line moving. Except Varsho can't get on base. Every week or so he'll run into a home run, but he's been one of the worst hitters in the league for years and you can't hide that on a team that's not a top offense otherwise.

Varsho has been a league average hitter in 2024 and 2025 combined

Absolutely true. Look at this offense in 2023 and 2024. Same story with a malaise like Varsho in the lineup in those two years That is what this game reminds me, of the horrible offensive baseball I saw the past two years. This game also looks like the early part of the year also. With Varsho, you get either a Strike Out, Pop Up, or the occasional home run.
That is why he was also hitting .176 in Buffalo, but people got excited since he had a couple of home runs in Buffalo. Not a coincidence when you insert one of the worst hitters in the league and a malaise like Varsho back in the lineup, this lineup forgot how they were performing for two months that he was away.

Is Varsho to blame for them going 1-4 the past week too

Schneider has been good recently. Ty France should never play ahead of him

For the most part the offense was fine during that stretch, just RISP averaging down to counterbalance our improbably high RISP during the winning stretch. We're just getting PTSD tonight watching the offense struggle again with our mendoza hitter cemented back into the lineup.

Looks like another paul dejong. G.m specializes in these types..gets rid of Lourdes and hernandez..brings Chapman, varsho and above mentioned..so the story continues..missed out on Suarez, Kwan and the likes

Varsho is an elite defender that has some pretty solid power, but it's extremely hard to overlook his high strikeout rate combined with his low average and OBP. No idea how anyone – even his biggest fan – could possibly think that putting him at the top of the order is a good idea. He belongs in the bottom third of the order (potentially even 9th) when this team is fully healthy.

Scored 4 runs, 4 runs and 2 runs in 3 losses against the worst pitching team in the league this week
Just fine though

100 percent true statement. This team's offense looking like 2023 and 2024 also with Mr. Mendoza Varsho back to doing what he does. That is why I said last week when Varsho was hitting home runs in Buffalo, while hitting .176 in his minor league rehab games- that he would be a nice trade chip on deadline day. Varsho been out for two months, and people forgot how a .200 hitter with .235 on base looks like at the plate.
