Its absolutely critical the Lakers build their championship core this season and the next since Luka will opt out of that contract by the third year to get the super max and be paid like 70 mill a year. Getting him at 55 a year in this market is incredible.

He’ll likely get 80 mill per year minimum for his next deal

This is the right move for Luka's camp. absolutely.

Now the Lakers have to prove they can build a contender around him. I don't think it'll be a quick retool, it's going to take some time to get a product around Luka like he had in Dallas. But nonetheless, I'm happy for the excited LA fans that won't have to worry about a post shaq/post pau drought era when Bron retires/leaves.

Big mistake from Luka
Lakers are far from a possible true contenter and have few assets

Everyone expect them to sign great players with a discount. And being gifted superstars in trade

But I don't believe they will this time
