I haven't seen every clip out there on Caleb, but I remained concerned, based on those I've seen, that he's still holding the ball too long (feels like by a full second). Feel free to submit evidence to the contrary.

Well he’s still doing loopty loops back there if the highlights are any indication. One of those clips was called a first down, but it was clearly a sack by Booker. One other one was called the coverage locking down, but there were guys to throw the ball to, or dirt it. Caleb just didn’t pull the trigger and took a sack by Dayo.

Re: Bears 12.0
Apropos of nothing, but I saw Caleb, Odunze, and presumably a few other Bears players I couldn't recognize on Saturday night at Trivoli Tavern.
I'm taking this as a sign that the Bears are going to the Super Bowl.

The worst part about that sack was it was a 4th & goal play. You simply can't hold onto the ball there.

It aligns with what he did in college. People were losing their minds over the running in circles while at usc. He didn’t learn that he won’t get a way with it in the nfl last year and it looks like that’s carried over to this season. He needs to get out of that habit sooner than later

Re: Bears 12.0
From everything I’ve seen, it seems like Caleb’s strength is the 2 minute drill (as it was last season). So, he clearly has the ability to make quick decisions and get the ball to his player makes. The issue seems to be that when it’s not a two minute drill he’s not seeing things the same way and holding on to the ball too long.
Not sure why that is but whatever the reason, he processes the field differently when it’s not fast paced. I think once that’s addressed, everything else will start falling in place

I'm not. The Bears have a HC, who seems to know what he is doing. People forget that Williams has had subpar coaching the past couple of years with Shane Waldron and Lincoln Riley. I like having Declan Doyle and Ben Johnson working with Caleb. I'm not concern, right now.

People are making judgements based on second hand sources coming out of practices. If that's not premature, I don't know what is.

I didn’t realize that. The mental mistakes like that beyond whatever reason the ball holding happens, the sharp winner QBs don’t feature. We don’t want to make a federal case out of these things, but we don’t want to pretend they don’t exist either. Let’s go, Caleb

I got my ass onto the Metra Electric Line and spent $10 to watch the practice and I left feeling George (who I saw taking photos with fans before practice) should have offered me a refund.
Multiple delay of game penalties, running around like a chicken with his head cut off and throwing up one of the worst balls I've seen thrown, running into the RB on a running play - Caleb is undisciplined to his core. Johnson has a big project on his hands and to be honest - he lacks the physical skills to make a living in the undisciplined world of QB play, he needs to conform or this **** is going to go sideways and quick.

Say what you want about Poles, but he has been ahead of the curve on paying his guys before the market raises the floor. And he’s done it multiple times.
Poles has paid market value on his deals, don’t make it out to be more than it has been. The market moves past most free agents in a couple years after signing if they maintain their level of play. If JJ (or even Gordon) wanted to sign a year early at less than what he could have gotten had he waited, that’s more of a JJ thing than a genius Bears move.
Generally, paying a wide receiver like DJ is not something you want to do. Not unless you’re already set up for making a very deep run. And it hasn’t quite paid dividends. The best WR strategy is keep drafting them high, and trading them before the big payday. And the contracts to Kmet and Sweat have not paid off relative to their salaries. And lets not talk about Nate Davis and Edmunds even though that’s not the point you were trying to make. Dayo doesn’t appear to be a value deal. Poles has an extremely mixed record on paying free agents.
-traded for sweat rather than navigate FA. extended him a year early. rather than get the typical discount, poles was pressured into a quick overpay
-traded for jackson rather than navigate FA. then inexplicably gave a guy who was injured and benched last year a gift extension...a year early
-extended gordon a year early. again did not get a discount but rather doled out a record deal for a nickel
-traded for thuney rather than sign a FA. extended him a year early for ages 34-36
clearly poles does not like to and is not good at negotiating. if he is the anti-jerry jones, perhaps both extremes are bad
-Sweat was getting traded regardless. He was not hitting free agency. And even if he did, we would’ve paid more or lost out on him.
-Jonah Jackson was literally a pro bowler under Ben Johnson. He wasn’t a free agent. I don’t see the issue with getting a guy he knows he can utilize and understands his system.
-Kyle Gordon might arguably be our best defensive player and the best nickel in the league according to a lot of ppl. Why haggle with home grown talent you know you aren’t losing? There’s no benefit.
-Thuney has multiple rings, was in the Super Bowl last year and was a pro bowler last year! He might be our best player on offense. And yet doesn’t have 2-3 years left in him?
Poles literally saved money by doing his plans with conviction rather than dragging it out. All those plans don’t always work out, but he could be like the Bulls and do nothing and hope to get a return eventually. (Lavine,Caruso,Vuc). I don’t agree with all his moves but negotiations aren’t his issue. Maybe it’s background checks but with the right environment, that can be mitigated.

why would you go watch the practice of a team you are incredibly pessimistic about

Re: Bears 12.0
I have generally been on the pessimistic side lately but generally I'd say its not fair to expect all his bad habits to be coached out in just a month of practices/camps
If we see this throughout the season, yeah, go ahead. But it should get better.

Ppl only watching family fest and judging Caleb’s play off of that are just hoping for negativity. Caleb had his two best days right before. But this was the first time in a stadium setting and it was sloppy. There’s still a month before games start. Relax lol

Re: Bears 12.0
My only concern about the current team is Dayo. He got paid a lot and i don’t think he’s a sack monster. We must have a plan that requires QB pressure outside of just the edge. Unless we think Hooker and Robinson will great. Still optimistic.

There really are only two reasons that I can think of.
1. To confirm the source of your pessimism
2. To further induce pessimism amongst a larger group

You want to confirm your pessimism. And tell people you were right. And you are.

The defensive line is going to be a big question mark. We have a new DE, a new DT, and hopefully some improvement from our younger players like Booker, Pickens, Dexter, etc. Will Sweat rebound from an off year? And what impact will Dennis Allen's scheme have on them? Going to be interesting to see how that plays out. They have a lot of potential, but also a lot is unproven.

I haven't heard anything about Booker so far. Anyone hearing anything positive there? I was excited about him last preseason, only have him completely disappear.
