And as expected, Kirk couldn’t play a full season as the starting catcher. Needs to be a part timer. And Heineman has easily outplayed him in way fewer games. 1.7 War in 88 games versus 1.6 WAR in 38 games. What is this, the third straight year Kirk is the 2nd best catcher on the Jays?
So we have annoying must be trolling posters over here too, I thought that was only exclusive to the Raptors board & basketball
But even over here in baseball, just because a poster doesn't like a player for whatever personal agenda reason, they'll continue to make disingenuous post & involve that player even if they're noteven concerned on the topic at hand.
Varso is a top outfielder, great guy to have in the fold & on your team, I don't need to tell you that tho, I'm sure posters have already, & you're just gonna have to sit back n watch when he comes back to action

Imagine someone hating Varsho and Kirk so much that they have to make up lies about them to justify their prior trashing of a trade that worked out great for the team. It's pretty sad stuff.

Now do that, but the other way. Keep it consistent. Better yet, read the thread to understand context (but I bet you won’t).
“Varsho is a top 3 OF in the majors and Kirk is the best catcher in the majors.”
Funny how that isn’t trolling.

On a fan forum you are complaining about fans being overly optimistic while others are complaining about you being totally unrealistic to the point where it's clearly trolling
Which one deserves more flack / if you were truly as rational as you probably believe you are, then your expectations/post would be somewhere in the middle. But you're clearly on the opposite side of the fence here
Enjoy the rest of your summer tho

1-5 without Kirk now. They chose well.

Guys, got a couple of reported posts in this thread. I don't really like strictly moderating or warning anyone, so please keep it civil. Debate the merits of Varsho/Kirk/Moreno all you like, but no personal attacks please.

A well below average hitter who unsurprisingly has one hit in 8 at bats and it was at Coors. Some posters love mediocrity.

Re: Varsho/Moreno/Kirk Discussion Thread
Varsho is fine as a hitter near the bottom of the lineup, which is where he would ideally be if this team was fully healthy with Springer and Santander.
Lukes
Springer
Vlad
Bo
Santander
Barger
Kirk
Varsho
Gimenez
I'd say that would be our ideal lineup. But Santander is likely out for the season with the way they're kinda hinting at his recovery timeline. In which case, Barger or Loperfido would be playing the OF and Clement would be on 3rd. That's where Varsho might be hitting like 6th. Also, while Varsho isn't hitting for average, his .534 slugging would be on of the tops on the Jays and higher than Vladdy and Bo. For a team as starved for power as we are, someone like Varsho who can at least hit a few homers while providing elite defense isn't the worst thing for this lineup.

Yeah, let's see how Varsho does against real teams with solid pitching coming up like the Dodgers, Cubs and Texas after the Jays are done facing the trash pitching of the Rockies the next couple of days in Coors.
One good game facing the trash Rockies pitching does not erase Varsho's horrible weekend. Let's see how the .200 hitting MVP does the next week or so, before we get excited about Mike Trout 2.0.

Re: Varsho/Moreno/Kirk Discussion Thread
Jays are fine where they are for homeruns. They're middle of the pack even with their putrid start of the season. May onwards, they've been doing more than fine. They lead the league in average and OBP and they're top 5 in OPS. It's also pretending that Varsho is historically .500 + SLG hitter when historically he's done that... never. Never been close. He's very likely to fall below that mark by the end of the season.
When it comes to the Top 9 hitters, he shouldn't be part of that group. He hasn't been good enough in his 2 1/2 seasons with the Jays.
If Santander comes back healthy and in form, the best lineup doesn't include Varsho except late-game scenarios (defense and baserunning). Also have to see what kind of form Gimenez returns to, but I can't imagine him coming back in anything more than a platoon role with the way Clement has hit LH (and even Davis Schneider).

Re: Varsho/Moreno/Kirk Discussion Thread
Dear god, these takes are just getting dumber and dumber.
If Varsho is not in the lineup, then your starting CF is Myles Straw. They are NOT playing Lukes or Loperfido in CF in anything other than a short-term emergency. Neither of those two is a starting caliber MLB defender in CF. They both grade out as negative or just even in a corner OF spot and would be well below average in CF.
So no, there really isn't a scenario where a healthy Varsho isn't one of your 9 starting hitters, because you have no CF who is better than him. Unless you want to try to argue that Myles Straw is a better hitter or that he will fare better against the Dodgers, Cubs, and Rangers (LOL).
And yes, I'm fully expecting one of you trolls to now respond and suggest that Straw is a better hitter because he hit a couple bloop-singles in a two week sample of games.

Against RHP:
Lukes (RF)
Springer (DH)
Vlad (1B)
Bo (SS)
Barger (3B)
Kirk (C)
Loperfido (LF)
Varsho (CF)
Giminez (2B)
Against LHP:
Clement (2B)
Springer (RF)
Vlad (1B)
Bo (SS)
Kirk (C)
Barger (3B)
Schneider (LF)
France (DH)
Varsho (CF)
I would put Varsho in as an everyday player but I'd put him either 8 or 9. His defense is too good at CF to not play him everyday. Straw is definitely not better.

People seriously can't hate Varsho enough to want Myles freakin Straw playing over him regularly right? Right?

some posters on a toronto blue jays message board absolutely agitated after another varsho HR — this one a go-ahead piss missile that the player he was traded for could only achieve playing MLB the show (using a player other than himself, of course)
