I love doing things solo. Movies, going out to eat, whatever. I just don’t get to do it anymore with small children and work. It makes me sad.
Haven’t done a concert or a sporting event but I might try a Bucks game alone this year now that you mention it.

I wish I was a solo person, but I never have been and not sure I ever could be. Instead of finding it freeing, I end up missing that there's no one to share the experience with. And, oddly, I say this as someone that leans introvert. There's just a weird gap there I've never been able to really reconcile.

It's funny because I'd lean extrovert. Like I almost always have someone with me and I like it. But then doing it solo is opposite my usual so I enjoy it. Could be something to do with that for both of us.

Solo movies are fine, I don't do them a lot but there isn't much difference since you are quiet throughout anyway. I don't do solo dining, I'll get takeout and eat at home. I enjoy dining out and since my GF and I split last year I don't really have the desire to eat alone in a restaurant. I've never done solo games but I guess I wouldn't mind it, never really thought about it.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I’ve done dinner, concerts, and all sorts of stuff solo. I love going out to eat solo tbh. No one to entertain just enjoy the meal.

I want people. I just don't want them to talk to me.

As a general life principle I don't want to be responsible for anyone else's good time. Doing stuff alone alleviates me of that responsibility.

Re: OT: General Off Topic Thread [No Politics, Race, Religion, etc.]
I just went on my first solo vacation a few months ago and it was great. I also go to movies, restaurants, sporting events, and some concerts alone. It adds a level of peace that you don't get with others around.
I do those things with other people too, but it's nice to just go out and do something you want to do without having to worry about anyone else. Some people say they feel bad that I have to go alone and I'm like no, I could find people to go with but I feel like going by myself. They don't usually understand.

Yea I do lots of solo things too. Also, its not like you don't talk to anyone unless you don't want to. Its actually a great way to meet people imo. Like dinners, sit at the bar and chances are if you're nice you'll mingle with the people around you. Same with games/concerts, just befriend the people around you or when grabbing a beer or two before or after. If you're traveling its a great way to meet and learn what the locals do. And if you think about it, all the people around you have similar interests/hobbies to be at the same event you're at
Resident Lillard truther since 2015.

Re: OT: General Off Topic Thread [No Politics, Race, Religion, etc.]
I used to do things solo all the time before I got married, and I didn't mind it because I had a ton of freedom. Sure, I enjoyed hanging out with friends and such, but I also enjoyed just being on my own and doing my own thing. I liked not having to worry about anyone else or accommodating what they need or thinking about how my actions are impacting them.
Since I met my spouse, it's rare that I do anything solo. I don't mind it, as I enjoy her company.
There have been a few times since we've gotten married where my spouse has left town to visit her family/friends for a few days. I usually join her, but some times work precludes me from doing so. The last time this happened, she was gone for a little more than a week.
When that happens, I enjoy the freedom I get. But, I also found myself getting bored quite quickly. After a couple days on my own, I start really missing her company and camradarie, as it's nice to have someone to share experiences with, no matter how small they may be.
I think the COVID lockdowns really reinforced the value of in-person interaction and its impact on our mental health.

Where did you go?
San Juan (PR) and then NYC, both for the first time on the same trip. The last two years I've had plans fall through with other people, so that's what pushed me to just book something for myself this year to see how it went. It was a good balance of getting out of my comfort zone without being too stressful or overwhelming. I'd definitely do it again.

I’ve been around the world solo so it’s nothing to me to do things solo. I’ve done a few nba games and do movies all the time, although pretty much only when the gf isn’t interested (weapons this weekend will be solo
).
Restaurants are almost always with her nowadays but if im traveling alone for work or w/e ill still go out by myself.

Re: OT: General Off Topic Thread [No Politics, Race, Religion, etc.]
I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a quality and respectful firearms instructor in SEWI. Someone who can teach how to use a firearm safely and effectively and possibly provide training for a CCW.
It's hard to know who to go to these days. I'm always a bit worried about finding an instructor who won't be pushing some sort of political agenda or will react negatively to the idea of training some brown folks. And that isn't an unjustified fear from what I've heard from friends who've tried to go to some of the local classes around here.
I don't plan on buying multiple weapons or even carrying most of the time, but it's a dangerous world out there and I'd like to have the skill at the very least.

I worked at Vortex Optics (riflescopes, red dots, etc.) in Barneveld for nearly a decade, and still work in the firearms industry. Vortex has an entire indoor shooting range that offers classes to the public. And I trust those instructors with my life. I’ll send you a PM with more details later tonight as I know a 1.5 hour hike to west of Madison isn’t ideal. I have lots of options for ya.
If you have any questions around firearms I got you. Wasn’t a big gun guy initially but I know more than I ever would’ve imagined haha.

Last time I fired a gun was about 25 years ago. Years of action movies made me thing it'd be easy but I couldn't hit ****.

Tried some Costco wings, pretty good. They have some with garlic pepper seasoning, $23 for 5 pounds. Unseasoned $22 for 7 pounds. They have some frozen that you just heat up in the air fryer. Classic buffalo flavoring. Pretty tasty.

I had the store bought Asian Zing BWW sauce last week. Thinned it out with butter and I thought it was good. But it's possible that every wing is good with the NYT blue cheese dressing recipe. I'll never make wings without it ever again.
Spoiler:

That sauce is good. I'm not really a blue cheese fan though
