If Ingram turns out to be an equivalent level player to Herro I will be disappointed. I'm expecting better than that and hoping for at least 65 games. Putting Barnes ahead of Bam at the junction I agree is premature. Bam is pretty damn good.

Right, but that comment has nothing to do with anything I was saying.
Anyway. There's space for pessimism. There's space for optimism. Pessimism eventually gets super, super exhausting. Optimism, as long as it isn't ridiculous, is less exhausting. We've been dwelling in the negative about this team for years. We need to move onto a different vibe, otherwise it just grows totally toxic. I don't think anyone is deluding themselves into thinking this is a contender, or that there aren't many barriers to us becoming a top-tier team, but we have to start SOMEwhere.

Obviously we have to wait until the season gets rolling to tell much of anything, but he's been about as positive as you can get out of summer league and so forth. Good anticipation, good physicality, smart player, etc, etc. One last parting gift from Masai, maybe?

I don't care much who forced that decision, I'm just glad he looks this damn good.

I can certainly agree with that. Doesn't matter in the end, since he's on the roster. And he looks like a good pickup.

Would we be worse if we kept the pick and gave Giddey 28-30M. Probably not.
we dont have cap space to offer 28-30M, so yes probably worse

Besides, they are all going to claim it. I would too.

Yup, see Masai.

I'd preffer not to use them like that, tbh. Like, one pick on Ingram is enough.

Yup, see Masai.
Even without Ingram we wouldn't have the cap space to offer 28-30M...
The only team with cap space are the ones without any assets and are bottom of the barrel tanking. Its why highly paid players dont change teams in FA outside of sign and trades really. Because NO ONE has cap space to do it.

Look at that. ZERO teams had "positive" cap space last year.

You take Ingram over a mid-late pick every day.
This boards obsession with late first is hilarious. They aren't that valuable.

Possibly remembering success we've had with them under Masai, as opposed to their usual value, maybe?

If we have to move him, that's at least another at this point.

Probably, but even then, our success rate on true "hits" was like 50% and we were by far the best at hitting on them

Bruno, Delon, OG, Siakam, Flynn were our late 2nd. I would add Mogbo / Koloko / Daniels in there to as they were early 2nds.
You're more likely to draft a bust than a starter. A single first, that is not even your own, is not anything to worry about.
Of course, I would probably not have done that trade in hindsight simply because Haliburton's achilles was not something you expect to occur.

Good thing we are not going to move him then.
There also is the avenue where Ingram balls out, and he ends up being worth multiple first in return. Funny though how you only look to the negative.
But either way, there are plenty of teams who would take Ingram with term on his deal and even pay to do so. You think Miami would force us to give up picks if we said "give us Wiggins and Mitchell"? We would be the ones that would hang up the phone to that offer, even if they also tried to send us a FRP on top of it.

50% on any draft slot would be pretty high, I imagine.
