I mean I’d rather have Boucher over Niang.
At least he’s a veteran big man.

He's like a 3rd of the cost of Kornet this year. Nice find. Someone has to play center.

Boucher was just really good last year. This guy can play. He's got length, which they need.

The Celtics have acquired a former G league MVP to replace the one they cut.

He's 34% on 3's, Career.
At 6'9", he'll probably be a PF on our Team?

That's right, too! -- He was the G League MVP & DPOY at the same time. About 6 or 7 years ago?

He's definitely a PF, and has a good chance of starting if the roster doesn't change again.

Yeah, I think he starts at PF. Doesn't have the heft to play C against most teams -- though I'm sure he'll get some minutes there.
DW/Simons?/Jaylen/Boucher/Queta
Can obviously swap Pritchard for Simons and play small with JB or Hauser at the 4
But Boucher has 7'4" wingspan which ranks .. tied for 43rd in the league, with Mobely, Zubac, and Myles Turner -- rail thin but that length can be useful!

Re: Welcome to the Boston Celtics, Chris Boucher (Aug. 5, 2025)
I was a big Bassey fan. Comparing the two, Bassey is 8 years younger, 1000% more likely to be injured, more likely to block shots, more likely to pass, more likely to turn the ball over, and more likely to foul. Obviously Boucher shoots from the perimeter and Charles doesn't -- yet.
Boucher might be primed to start this season and spread his wings a bit -- and possibly accept a backup role to JT next year, which could be helpful. Bassey is more of a classic 5.
Career ORtg Bassey 121 Boucher 124
Career DRtg Bassey 111 Boucher 110
If it was close to a coin flip, I'm guessing they made the right call -- and again, saying this as someone who liked Bassey in his draft and in Vegas last month.

Re: Welcome to the Boston Celtics, Chris Boucher (Aug. 5, 2025)
He was a name I stopped to think about when scanning the available list. There has to be another shoe that drops before the season start. I'm struggling to see how he gets minutes at PF without moving Niang or rotational wing. If they want to bump a development slot in the rotation, they still avoid the 2nd apron if they do the Tillman + cash into space + undeliverable pick deal.

Niang is an NBA player too, but kind of psyched we dodged the whole experience. And hopefully are 'good enough' on salary for a bit now.

Niang got Traded today, too.
