Varsho’s ISO this year of .380 would be a top 25 ISO season in MLB history

I think we can accept that kind of season

Dont care about the singles and walks as long as Varsho keeps providing these big hits every series

Question for those smarter than me.

How has Bichettes defence been this year? How does he rank against other SS?

Yeah, I could overlook the extremely low OBP a bit more if he wasn’t quite so feast or famine at the plate. 7 of his 11 HR and 21 of his 30 RBI have come in 5 games (with about half of that coming in the past 48 hours in Colorado) while he’s 13/84 with 30 Ks in the other 23 games he has played so far this season. Very small sample size either way, but I’m not holding my breath and expecting Varsho to suddenly become a 50+ HR hitter and/or an average OBP kind of guy when we have years of data to suggest otherwise.

Regardless, he’s a valuable piece and contributor to this team because of his fielding. Hopefully he can continue to mash the ball and drive in runs from the bottom third of the order for the rest of the year. We need him and Springer healthy for the postseason especially when things like fielding and baserunning become even more crucial to a team’s success.

Just based off what ive seen he really lacks range over there especially since hes put on considerable weight since 2021. But going into the stats a little in DRS and OAA hes pretty comfortably a bottom 5 everyday SS defensively. Those stats kinda vary a bunch in who is in the bottom 5 but Bichette being bottom 5 in both tracks for me. And no matter which way you wanna look for defensive metrics hes pretty bad (not worst in the league horrific at least lol).

As long as his OPS is over .800 you're ok with it but I think any long term contract should have a focus on eventually moving him to 2nd Base if we do keep him.

Hes been trolling since that Moreno trade.

Don’t care, he has 11 HRs and 17 XBHs in 28 games.

If he hit even close to this over a full year, he’d have the most valuable Jays season in franchise history

Jays are 50-37 without him.

Wouldn’t that make them 17-11 (61%) with him? A higher win percentage than 50-37 (58%)?

What exactly is it you think you are proving with that one lol

I would leave that to the people still hating on one of our best players almost three years later for the sole fact that he was involved in that trade myself

This may be a little harsh. From what I've seen he is closer to 20th defensively this season, which ain't terrible. He is top 5 offensively. But I agree he has 2-3 years at SS max.

So much for that addition by subtraction and that this team is better without Varsho. I also think that this applies to Santander, the team is better with both healthy in the lineup.

.602 SLG while batting .222 is hilarious.

Varsho will come around though. I think he can get his avg up to about .240

Well sure, it would put him on pace to hit 40-50+ homers which I think even the most homeristic person would admit is unlikely for Varsho.

60+ actually. He's been that good so far this season.

Sure, but we know he isn't/wouldn't hit 60 homers this season right?

Yeah we're pretty damn sure. 20-25 home run guys generally don't randomly spike to 50-60.
