New espn app

Post#1 » by PRguy23 » Thu Aug 7, 2025 12:40 am

Shocked I didn't see this posted here yet. This goes along with espn buying Redzone, really hope they don't screw that up. But also ESPN is going to be releasing a new app called ESPN . They will have espn. Espn 2, espnu, secn, accn, espn news, espn desportes, espn on ABC and espn +. Supposedly (rumor) the $30 month plan will include wwe ppv events along with boxing and ufc ppv fights. Along with nfl network and redzone.

Initially I thought this was insane. However if they are indeed including ufc and boxing ppvs I may consider the deal. For the first year its going yo be in my disney + bundle for just $5 more then what I already pay and it's going to automatically happen. So I'll give it a try for the first year. Let's see if they convince me to stay after as I'm sure a price hike in yr 2 and 3 will happen.

What are your thoughts on this new espn app and package. Releases August 21st.

Frick espn, they are not what I grew up with and have destroyed sports media and journalism over the last 10 to 15 years. They went from great shows and constant sports news to garbage tmz style garbage.

We went from the days of Chris Berman, Stuart Scott, David Aldridge to screaming SAS, kendrick Perkins and Pat Macaffee or whatever his name is.

That sound like I'm part of that pr team. Lol

Truthfully this has been in the works for a few years now. ...Gentlemen, a short view back to the past...

Disney, FOX, and Warner Bros. Discovery were intending on releasing Venu, a specific sports streaming app, but it was deemed monopolistic by FuboTV [owned by Paramount], and this venture ended up being side tracked and cancelled in 2024. There were discussions on trying to corner this sports streaming market more directly. An app where you can basically one-stop-shop for events. This new app will cut out the other companies WBD/FOX and keep it "in the company".

I know the UFC was in contract discussions and ESPN surely want to have UFC on the docket instead of Netflix. I'm a MMA watcher, so an ESPN app that allows me to get PPV cards is definitely something I'm interested in, but I cannot say I'm thrilled that my least favourite broadcast company is going to operate it. Also, F1 and some motorsport has increased in popularity, ESPN pushes that side harder now than before. Of course, Tennis, WNBA, MLB, NCAA sports, and NBA all get broadcasted by ESPN, but not exclusively. There are a bunch of niche sports, like ESPNOcho that will love this deal to get more eyes on their product.

My question is, what's the pricepoint and what's the availability/access more specifically for on demand, I need replays and an archive.
Cheers

Since this is an nba board, here is what I recommend. Get fubo Spanish. It is $15 a month and has espn deportes. All espn nba games are on that channel. And the good thing is you don’t have to deal with regular espn announcers.

They’ll make it cheap with a lot of content in the beginning to gain market share. Then it will get expensive

People have sent me PMs with illegal streams. I used to be against it but now I have no shame. I will never pay for this

It would be nice if they had an option for NBA coverage only or some kind of skinner bundle without PPVs. Don’t care about UFC or Boxing. Maybe even buy a single game at some point. To watch all games this season without TV package…. ESPN, League pass, Peacock and Prime? That’s getting close to $100 per month?

They will have a $11 dollar option. Just espn + basic.

Thought the same for most movies too. But when Netflix, Disney +, Spotify, etc makes it too cheap, it's just not practical and just pay $10 a month. LOL

I would be shocked if that included UFC PPV's.

Unless they're going to pay me to use it...which given there I'm sure will be ads, isn't even me being unreasonable. Heck no!

Lol definitely has nothing to do with public relations. Must say maybe I should considering I gave this a better sales pitch then those clowns at espn/disney. I hate almost all their shows by the way.

I wouldn't be shocked if they do it for the first year or do one or two events then go back to the ppv.
