The state of the economy (or the perceived state of the economy) seems to be the greatest factor in determining US elections.

I'm not convinced we will ever have elections again where electing a non Republican is possible. If we're going to have a dictator can we at least have a competent one.

Wow. Immense suffering against getting rid of Trump.

BTW, I don't necessarily know if the economy will fully tank given the Capex into AI. I do think we are headed for a bubble there and then it is going to be really ugly. But that might take years to play out.

The next POTUS is hosed.

I don't think it was ever given a chance to develop into a bubble and it's been going on since they solved the image recognition problem (2012 or thereabouts). Trump was potus in 2017-2021 and his idiotic tariff war w China sat on the ai growth like a big orange slug and then there was COVID. Then just as we recovered from covid we elected the economic lead balloon again

Well... it's an entertaining article. Are we in a bubble? Looks to me like we're in some sort of AI land grab and the big 4 are eating everyone's lunch.

But let's me just say. 150 acres a year is laughably tiny.

There's a lot of interesting stuff going on, that's for sure. To me it seems the big 4 are in a race to try to erase as many jobs as possible and replace it with capital they own. Which would be a astoundingly enormous transfer of wealth from people to corporations/shareholders/the wealthiest of the wealthy.

Which is annoying because ai can enhance labor productivity instead of erasing it. In the end it will be some of both, but clearly the intent is to suck up all the generated profits into the hands of a very small number of ultra billionaires as quickly as possible, and it will be up to small entrepreneurs to generate the labor enhancing benefits later.

Yep, it is an interesting take. Interesting ratios to justify that a bubble is in the making... but when does the bubble pop :dontknow:

And your point of the big companies trying to eat all the profits - well, I think you are spot on with that one.

It won't be immense suffering. For the US, maybe the Civil War or the Great Depression might qualify for "immense". (Unless you are African American or Native American.)
There are many ways to suffer. That is happening right now, even though most of us are doing fine financially. We feel for those that are suffering under Trump like immigrants, and for the evil of policies like getting rid of public broadcasting. Even replacing the White House Rose Garden with concrete takes a toll.
I came across this Thomas Jefferson quote yesterday, “Indeed I tremble for my country when reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever". It might be nice to be a believer, and think that God would take vengeance. What does a country that elects a Trump deserve? Of course believing in an ultimate justice is what the ruling classes use against the oppressed. Give them a religion/opium to keep them in line.
There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics — quote popularized by Mark Twain.

I don't think insane ratios are wholly unnatural or that they necessarily imply a bubble. Innovation is bumpy, these things have been happening on the regular since the eighties. Yes, stupid humans never fail to herd together stupidly thinking a temporary surge is the new normal, and there's always a bunch of other idiots along for the ride hoping to leap off at the right time. It's irrational behavior, I hate it. Can't predict when the bubble will burst. But we may not actually be in a bubble this time, there's been no chance for overexuberant optimism. Maybe Trump will die of an aneurysm and the idiotic trade war will stop. Then maybe there will be a bubble.

I think JD Vance is repugnant. However, if Trump's bubble were to burst I would be overjoyed.

Some notable findings

Nearly 2/3rds believe he is corrupt and 70% believe
he is dishonest.

The world's dumbest dictator is learning that to credibly threaten to punch himself in the nuts, he has to actually punch himself in the nuts. If only it wasn't mostly our nuts he was punching. DJIA falling 300 pts today after Trump stupidly insists on imposing completely idiotic, wealth destroying tariffs.

Meanwhile an old video drops (maybe I just didn't see
it earlier) in which the Nut Puncher makes some
comments some folks might interpret as a confession.

Also did I remember to point out what revolting scum RFK Jr is, cancelling all Fed sponored research into mRNA, the miracle drug that literally saved this country from spiraling into a Trump-incompetence fueled economic collapse? What a total and utter dirtbag that guy is. Just absolutely irredeemably evil. And nothing you can do about it. At whom do I scream? Republicans too scared to have town halls now.

That was also my own line of thinking. My guess is
this vid was recorded probably before he re-took office
and before the full implications of his friendship
with the late champion sex criminal combined with
so much more that was already known and in the
open and/or already understood by those not in the
cult. I don't recall anyone ever trying to refute that
he would visit the dressing rooms before beauty pageants.
