It was just unheard of at that time. He ushered in a era where everyone became super buddy buddy because of it.

What you are leaving out is that LeBron came into the league at 18. So he spent 7 years with the same team before moving on which was the equivalent of 28-29 in other eras. More time with the Cavs at that point than Wilt had with the Warriors before going to the Sixers. More time than Kareem had been a Buck before going to LA. You are framing all of this without a real knowledge of the sport imo and going by what talking head morons were saying on espn and whatnot which is not an accurate depiction of anything. They are paid to act outraged. I was obviously a Cavs fan at the time and I fully expected him to leave. It was not some kind of given that any star player would just stay with his team no matter what.

Is it too late to switch my vote to CP3 in the other thread?

Give the man his flowers

Stockton doesn't need to give LeBron flowers, Rich Paul and others have already given LeBron more flowers than necessary, so Stockton is telling the truth as he should. LeBron himself has a tattoo that says "The Chosen One", so nobody owes LeBron anything...

And its true, when Pippen was an 8ppg rookie and a 3rd year migraine, Jordan never demanded a trade, he just continued giving Pippen hell in practice until Pippen was tough enough to be a #2 for a championship team. And you saw what happened when Jordan retired into baseball, Pippen wouldn't even support Kukoc's game-winning shot. Without Jordan there is no Pippen as we know him, and even in retirement we see Pippen has lost his way without Jordan.

Quick question.

Has Lebron ever had anything REMOTELY close to the talent level Stockton had in his first stint in cleveland?

Malone all those cavs players put together i mean what are we talking about?

lol what? I don't mind if you want to take some away from LeBron for teaming with a prime Wade but those Cavs teams were pretty ass. Anyone who was a name on those squads played their best years before they got to Cleveland, those teams were really bad.

Also why is it always Kobe fans who do this ****, its nobody else, worst fanbase on the internet of all time. Its crazy cause LeBron came to the Lakers and you guys (Kobe fans) still hate the guy, just shows where your loyalties lie.

They were terrible. Kobe fans will be disingenuous and say things like he played with Shaq, or All-Stars like Larry Hughes and Carlos Boozer, neglecting to mention Boozer dipped out before he hit his prime, Hughes fell of a cliff in Cleveland and sucked the rest of his career, and Shaq was on the verge of retirement. I'd argue the best players in terms of actual performance on the court during LeBron's Cleveland stint was Big Z (earlier in his career before he hit close to his prime), Boobie Gibson, and Anderson Varejao. If those are the best players running with you, I'm sorry but your team sucks.

LeBrons says Stockton's titles don't exist.

There is some truth to it, but the Cavs front office was not great at the time. Sure, he could have just stayed and hoped something would happen, but it wasn't a guarantee. I don't blame him for going to Miami.

The article mentions Jordan sticking it out with the same team without asking for a trade or asking for help, but he didn't have to. Pippen and Grant came along. Then Rodman. It wasn't guaranteed that would happen for James in Cleveland during the first stint.

not true...in fact - UNtrue

the cavs were 66wins and 61wins in lebron's last two years but lost in the semis. they didn't have what lbj thought they needed so he skipped town. this in fact puts a feather boa'd paisley hat on the whole shebang. it was a quintessential ring chasing move - dropping a 60win team cuz he thought what he had wasn't enuf. it is classic greener pastures seeking move

it makes stockton's statement even MORE true

so james went out of his way to guarantee it....that's stockton's whole point

I'm pretty sure someone has said this already, but if LeBron's titles don't have value, then i wonder where he ranks KD's titles..

Would you estimate you know more, or less, about how much titles mean than John Stockton?

I'm not making a claim about the value of LeBron's titles. Evidently you are, so you tell me.

I think the value of titles is arbitrary, and any individual's criteria for it is valid, if only to themselves. There's a floor value that recognizes historical significance and a minimum performance threshold. But comparatively, there's lots discretion. In general.

nor did he have kareem or pippen or mchale

HE DIDN'T HAVE TO. he only had to gather the best at that time. wade bosh allen battier love kyrie ad and a total of 60 allstar/all pro/hof/ all D teammates ...BY FAR more than any other goat ever had

lebron only had to put his thumb on the scales when he was playing

i'm pretty sure all the past greats except maybe walton, has thrown a stinky eye lebron's way

I wouldn't value the rings he won with the Heat, or the rings Durant won with the Warriors... the same as the ring Giannis got with the Bucks or the ring Dirk got with the Mavs... I don't see how anyone could think that LeBron and KD winning in those situations could be as impressive.

What player played with more allstar teammates than LeBron before playing with him and during playing with him. Doubt it's close At all.
