Did you purposely take the "W" out of my post?

Argue the WNBA points, on the WNBA Forum.
A minor WNBA reference here, is OK.

But this, is not the WNBA Forum.
You've made your points. Move on.

The title of the thread says "Other Sports". It doesn't say "Other Sports except the WNBA".

That's the problem going on nowadays. Censorship all over the place.

Take it to another Forum.

Celtics Minority Owner Agrees to Buy Connecticut Sun With Plans to Relocate to Boston
Celtics owner Steve Pagliuca has agreed to a record deal to buy the Sun and relocate the team to Boston.

Boston Celtics minority owner Steve Pagliuca has agreed to purchase the Connecticut Sun with plans to move the WNBA franchise to Boston, Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe reported on Saturday.

Pagliuca has reportedly agreed to buy the team from the Mohegan Tribe for $325 million, which would be a record purchase price for a women's sports franchise. Pagliuca has additionally agreed to then spend an additional $100 million to build a new practice facility in order for the Sun to relocate to Boston. The franchise could be moved permanently by the 2027 season.

me: The Mohegan tribe paid $10 million for the franchise in 2003.

I'd be shocked if Raptors do not win more than 33 games. I'm not going to bet on it, I don't even have a sportsbook account, but that seems like a really likely occurence. So I'm making the call here on the forum so that when Toronto goes 42-40 or whatever, I can come back and gloat, lol

Dangit.. I was once a gambler on sports. almost gave me a heart attack twice. Managed to stay away for about 5 years.. and now you post this and you awakened the Frankenstein monster.

That does seem like a good bet. :banghead: :noway: :nonono:

I don’t get it I think Toronto stinks - they were awful and still look awful

They sat so many guys to improve lottery odds. But tanking seems over now, they want to take a step forward this year. Other teams in the conference are either significantly weaker from injury (BOS, IND) or they have another year incentivized to lose because of their pick outlook (WAS, BRK).

After the all star break, 3 man lineups with Scottie Barnes, Immanuel Quickley and Jakob Poeltl was +11 net rating. But they only played together in 7 games (4-3) because of sitting guys for tanking.

Their younger guys looks really interesting. JaKobe Walter looks ready to take a big step. Gradey Dick, Mogbo, and Collin Murray Boyles all look like they could be pretty good. Shead is a winner. RJ Barrett is kind of a tank commander but otherwise, unless BI stinks, if they are actually trying to win and they are reasonably healthy, I think they look way better than 32.5 wins.

EDIT: on JaKobe Walter, after the break, he was 10pts/4reb/2ast on 40/41/93% and his net rating spread was +3.5 on a Toronto team actively trying to lose. And the dude was 20 yrs old. I think he's gonna have a nice season. Plus you look at Walter two man groups with the other Raptor starters after the all star and its

Walter + Poetlt : net rating +24 in seven games (3-4)
Walter + Quickley : net rating +14 in eleven games (5-6)
Walter + Barnes : netrating + 13 in thirteen games (7-6)

I like that kid JaKobe Walter, I also like Raptors coach. I think he's underrated. Plus main reason, is east is so bad and 2026 a great draft coming (with 2027 draft already forecast outlier weak) so expect so much tanking and Raps are not gonna tank. How do they not win >32 in this scenario???

It's enough to make someone conclude that this was a wise long term business decision.

Because they stink? Like literally there’s only maybe 2 guys that would start on a good team on the entire roster, most of their team is like spot starter types at best.

Celtics have zero front court and still more legitimate starter level players suiting up next year.

lol, sure they won 30 games last year. But IQ played 33 games, Poetlt played 57. You play Barnes, IQ, Poeltl 65 games each and I expect they'll get at least to 33 wins. But I also like the development curve of their young players, so they could do a bit better than that. CMB looks really interesting as a rookie, the evolutionary Artest.

I think the flies in the ointment is that
1. Brandon Ingram has fallen off a cliff but is only 28. If he doesn't bounce back at all, thats a problem.
2. RJ Barrett is a loser. If you just took him off the team with nothing coming back, I'd feel better about the Raps, but he is not like a terminal disease that sinks a season. You can overcome Barrett.
3. I suppose the players under 25 yrs may not get better, but I think they're likely to improve. I think Scottie Barnes will be better. I like Walter, Shead, Mogbo to improve. Gradey Dick should have some 38-42% 3pt % shooting seasons coming in his career, but he hasn't shot it well yet.

If they have reasonable health, I'm seeing 35 on the low side. 45 wins if everything absolutely clicks. But I'm not a fortune teller and they only won 30 games last year, so I'm not saying they can't top out at 30-32s again next year. But I am expecting improvement, esp looking at the conference and the teams advantaged to lose, and thus I think they'll get to 35 W's.

Fox signs 229m extension with Spurs.

This settles the debate about Fox's future with the Spurs.

Jb may not be a Celtic, but that next contract could be crazy! Not Luka but crazy. Sweet baby Jesus, in the next 10 years, someone will get 700m!! Haha wow!! For 4-5 years!!

In the next 30 years, retired players will probably ban together to buy a team. Actually, they may have to start giving a piece to players soon! Fun times!

Sox may be moving past the Celtics in the eyes of Boston fans. Big day with the Roman Anthony extension.

Vrabel had the line of the day. As a legendary Patriots player, the coach briefly overlapped with Commanders offensive coordinator Kliff Kingsbury when Kingsbury spent 2003 deep on the Patriots’ depth chart. A reporter asked Vrabel what he recalled about Kingsbury the player.

“He wasn’t as good as Tom Brady,” Vrabel said.

Hottest team in Baseball. If they can keep it going through the Playoffs, could win the World Series... And the Bruins drafted the Cooper Flagg of Hockey, who's playing College Hockey in Boston.

Celtics could very well be left behind...
