Surprising, given the Sacto offer. But at least we appear safe for the moment.

When a team with a player can't get what they want from other teams for that player, they always say they have decided to not trade the player. And then often trade him.

Maybe they mean it. I can see why GS would want to keep him for a year or two in their position. But these types of reports are often just about trying to scare other teams into offering more.

FWIW, 2 years 45M for Kuminga seems reasonable enough for everyone if they are at an impasse. Kuminga has no reason to take the QO with that offer on the table, he wouldn't make enough next year to make it ever work out for him and it would only add a ton of risk. If he pans out, he's a UFA in 2 years in likely a better market, and GS has way more incentive to play him and let him pan out on this deal than if he takes the QO.

I think if GS strong arms him, he just grumbles but takes this. This isn't to say that the Kings or someone else couldn't re-engage with a better trade offer and allow a trade to materialize though, I agree with your take, that any of this can be posturing or pressure to get a better deal.

If they change that Team Option to a Player Option that would be foolish of him to turn down.

I like how we got a 30 page thread about maybe hopefully trading for a 15/4 player who's about due for an extension.

Please god no. Stop spending money. Tank. Stop compounding mistakes!

There is no reason to turn it down with the 2nd year TO because it's already better for him than the QO in every way.

GS has no incentive to give him a PO on a 2 year deal. That's worse for them, by a lot, then just having him sign the QO. It guarantees him 45M only in the scenario he sucks and you don't want him, and the scenario he's good you paid him 22.5M instead of 7M for one year.

I would not be shocked if the Bulls haven't talked to the Warriors about Kuminga since the trade deadline and any noise about the two since then is just agent promo and a rehash of old rumors.

That’s exactly what it is and JK’s camp trying to create a market.

Yeah I'm thinking Okoro was the move. If they were set on Kuminga then they would have kept Ball who was the perfect trade piece to make a deal work. Now any potential deal is too convoluted and/or simply bad for the Bulls.

I'd be absolutely shocked if the Bulls got Kuminga. Buzelis and Essengue are pencilled in as starters in ~2027 alongside a rim-protector, surely? With a 3nD shooting guard and Giddey leading fast breaks? We're already basically giving up on Pat Williams' ineffectual bum ass, there's no logic to acquiring Kuminga unless they're expecting Essengue to be a bench player for four years.

And, my personal take on Kuminga is really negative. If he were a budding superstar, I refuse to believe that Kerr/Curry/Green would have stunted his progress. He'd have been an amazing fit with them, but his actual performance was subpar. He wants to be paid 30 million to be the #1 or 2 on a garbage tier team? I believe that in reality, he's been as disappointing in practice as he has been on court, in a situation that would have been perfect to develop a hypothetical all-star forward. If he's a starter next year, again in my unlearnt opinion, it would be for a team with no playoff aspirations. This is why a tiny part of me is a bit nervous this is indeed something AK has thought about. Kuminga might be a perfect 38 win commander for ten years. Or he'll be a 22mpg 7th man who scores but doesn't make his teammates any better, which is where I put my money.

So the Bulls give up arguably the best player plus Vuc and Ayo AND a FRP for Kuminga and Moody?

Wow.
Here to argue about nonsensical things and suck away your joy. :kissmybutt:

That's so bad, I wish I hadn't clicked on the link, that trade is insulting. We trade the best players and add a pick? Who gets paid for such garbage

Golden State Warriors Receive: Josh Giddey, Nikola Vucevic, Ayo Dosunmu, 2028 first-round pick (CHI)

Chicago Bulls Receive: Jonathan Kuminga, Moses Moody

Holy hell sco. I can't believe you posted that without commentary on how awful it is.

Somebody is big GS fan, and despite everything that I dislike about Bulls this is pure robbery.

As long as the writer no one has ever heard of on a site no one has ever heard of thinks it's possible.

It's sad how much yahoo sports has fallen off. They actually were at one point perhaps the best sports news site on the internet. Now they're aggregating news, and they aren't even aggregating good news, they're aggregating absolute trash.

Other than having a lot of Gen X and older people's email accounts, I'm not sure why Yahoo exists anymore. But, then again, AOL is still around too.

Yikes, I’m a Warriors fan and even I’d feel guilty about how uneven that trade is lol
