Germany vs Slovenia didn't much look like a friendly preparation match, where teams experiment with various line-ups. Tensions were high, it did look like both teams were out for blood, measuring just how tough the opponent is.

Rok Radovic practically attempted murder on Christian Anderson Jr.
Read on Twitter

After that Luka Doncic and Isak Bonga nearly went full enforcerer mode with each other, with team-mates and refs jumping between them before it got physical.

Was great to watch :) Can't wait for the serious games to start a couple weeks from now.

I dont think we(Serbia) ever were as huge favourites to win it all as we are this year. However i would still take the field. Tournament format is tricky, there are 4 rounds of BO1 and one bad game sends you home. I will always remember that Italy game at Eurobasket 2022 where Spisu showed up out of nowhere and hit 6 threes when everyone thought game is over. Jokic was +11 in that game btw and they lost it by 8. Coach thought it would be easy so Jok played only 28 minutes. Milutinov as backup was -19 in 11 minutes...

I still think Serbia should win it all but if anything bad happes it would probably be Micic and Guduric shooting us out of the game.

BTW my darkhorse candidate is Latvia, they have solid roster, continuity and shoot a lot of 3s which can be key for an upset if they get hot.

Just couple of bucks, I am in no position to bet a lot of money. And I know it is a long shot, but it is a friendly, main objective for both of these teams is to test things more than anything, so I do not think it is that impossible for Serbia to lose. Friendlies is a good palce to bet on these major underdogs, its a bad place to bet on favorites IMO. And it is still Greece, it is not an awful team.

Draining stepbacks, picking up fight with a random scrub, getting T'ed up, get targeted in the P&R and get lost, throw amazing passes for a crappy center to fumble? Oh yeah, he's back!

Many of the other bigs/wings are also NBA guys (Yabusele, Sarr, Coulibaly, Risacher) plus Lessort. And that's without Wemby and Gobert. They are pretty loaded for the future.

I didn't read any official statement. I assume it's a mixture of

a) A guy like Steinbach played professional basketball in Germany until June, then played in the U19 World Championship and now moves to the US to play at the University of Washington. It may have been too much for him and he may need some pause before college.

b) They old guard who won the title in 2023 (Theis, Voigtmann, Thiemann,...) deserve to compete again and are still good. But they are getting old. I assume there will be some sort of rebuild before the next Olympics.

You were at least as much of a favorite in 2005. Didn't end well.

They are definitely bigger favorites this year I think, in 2005, they made mistake of crowning themselves before hand, they had commercial stands in the streets of their players in shirts spelling out ''champions'' and stuff, I think we remember that failure more because of that, not because it was some kind of historic choke based from talent perspective. When you look at the teams France, Greece and Spain had, I think those were just better teams, tho I believe Pau didn't play in that one.

If Serbia can't win the gold at this tournament, then they are never winning gold. They are the biggest clear favorite I can remember.

None of those players would make any difference for them. Ntilkina for example is a below average player in EuroLeague.

Come on Greece, I need this. Watching women U20, combined Netherlands and Lithuania bets there, Lithuania an underdog, added huge favorites Netherlands just to boost bet, and Netherlands lost and Lithuania will probably win...
