Yeah Aaron Turner did it with Oladipo.

It's more than just Draymond, salty toward the whole org as he was the one that had to go to get KD. Imagine you get drafted, start for a team that wins a chip and sets the record for wins in a season and you get shipped out.

Exactly. Can’t blame Barnes. He’s a class act and didn’t deserve that.

Warriors not classy enough to pass up KD to resign Harrison Barnes THANK GOD

Didn't deserve it no, but every org makes that decision and every realgm poster including you if it was your team :D

Feel bad for the guy about the whole thing, it stings a bit watching old games with him.

Spurs didn't have any interest in trading Castle for Fox, sure as hell they aren't trading him for Keegan Murray.

Imo even if Barnes is "just another guy at this point", he showed this season that he's still better than Kuminga who has been nothing but iron pyrite so far in his career. I think that he's a better option for GSW by far than JK on the QO (but not if they can sign him to a team friendly deal, moveable on 12/15). I'd give Carter an incomplete at this point rather than a failing grade. Eye of the beholder, I guess.

I think I generally agree with your ranking (Kuminga on a negotiated deal > this trade > Kuminga on the QO); I just don't see the QO as a legitimate threat no matter how many times JK's agent floats it to the press. Unless he gets close to a max next offseason there's just no way he makes up the extra ~$37M he'd be leaving on the table on a 2/45 deal vs. the QO

It isn't really giving up 37 million though, let's say that he gets the mle next year worst case scenario. Then he literally only loses 20ish million. If he gets to 22 to 25 million which I think is likely he losesbetween 8 to 12 million maximum.

These are pretty significant numbers for a guy who’s only made $25 million in his career so far

Oh I entirely agree.

I just know pretty well how all that went down and let’s just say that the complete BS of basically blaming Barnes for getting their 73 win team cracked in the Finals was just that - BS.

And as an extra note. Steph, Klay, Draymond and especially Kerr are NOT nice guys. They threw Harrison under the bus so they could go out and get their buddy to team up as a “super team”.

I’m really glad that era is finally dying. It bred an entire generation of “stars” that was the most mercenary such group we have ever seen in professional sports.

Barnes caught flack for going cold in the Finals that year, but I call BS on him being thrown under the bus. Everyone from Kerr (playing Varajao and Ezeli too much) to Draymond (the suspension) caught it. They had been working on KD long before that finals. Was never about Barnes as much as it was about Kevin f’in Durant in his prime and the team needing another “go get a bucket” type

Only a small group of fans did that, there was a laundry list of reasons why the team got cracked, from multiple injuries, suspensions, wear-down from grinding for the record. Nobody on the team said anything like that.

Odd, you just agreed you'd make the same move but Steph/Klay/Dray are not nice guys? So I assume you consider yourself and most people here to not be nice?

Big difference in my world between a team making a business decision in a cold and heartless manner, and a guy’s teammates literally plotting against him and working behind the scenes to bring aboard the guy whose team they just tromped so he can wuss into a couple of rings.

He was the team’s weakest starter, then signed a contract for much more than he was worth. The KD signing really saved the Warriors, because otherwise they probably would have had to match his deal, and then they would have fewer banners hanging from the rafters. If that hurts his feelings, too bad.

Not sure trying to bring in a top 3 player was “plotting against” Barnes. Again, it was about the chance to get Kevin Durant, not the chance to dump Harrison Barnes

Literally every single GM, head coach, and star player in the history of the NBA would let Harrison Barnes go to sign Kevin Durant. What are we even talking about here?

There's a lot of bitterness about the Warriors out there, people grasp onto anything. And anyone who watched those Finals know Barnes was a big reason they lost. Not the only reason, of course, but a big one. I didn't want him back at this point anyway (they're old enough) but if he's still sore about that (which I have no real reason to believe) I really wouldn't want him back.

Barnes was far from great that series, but Donkey being Donkey was the biggest reason why the Dubs lost in the finals that year, imo. If HB felt scapegoated—by Draymond in particular—then yeah, I could see some lingering resentment and rightfully so. That doesn't equate to thinking that KD for Barnes wasn't an absolute no brainer.

Yeah poor old Harry Barnes. He was offered a 64mil contract by the Warriors earlier that year... which he rejected. He then signed with another team to chase more money once he became a restricted free agent later that year.

Not exactly getting thrown under the bus.
