If we played like we played yesterday, there's a likely a chance we lose this tournament. It's quite obvious from yesterday's game that we play like we are the favourites.

Interesting game between Serbia and Greece, Jokic is such an advantage on the rebounds that it's insane. What teams have big bodies they can throw at him?

Tournament format is tricky, there are 4 rounds of BO1 and one bad game sends you home. I will always remember that Italy game at Eurobasket 2022 where Spisu showed up out of nowhere and hit 6 threes when everyone thought game is over. Jokic was +11 in that game btw and they lost it by 8. Coach thought it would be easy so Jok played only 28 minutes. Milutinov as backup was -19 in 11 minutes...

I still think Serbia should win it all but if anything bad happes it would probably be Micic and Guduric shooting us out of the game.

BTW my darkhorse candidate is Latvia, they have solid roster, continuity and shoot a lot of 3s which can be key for an upset if they get hot.

You were at least as much of a favorite in 2005. Didn't end well.

That team was full of "fake good" players like Jaric, Radmanovic, Rakocevic and Gurovic. Those guys could win you game or 2 during tourmanet but could also shoot you out of the game. Bodiroga was at the back end of his career and not that great anymore.

This years roster makes much more sense and we have by far the best player in the world, and back then we didnt have top 50 player in the world.
Still in single elimination you never know.

Mirotic12 wrote:If Serbia can't win the gold at this tournament, then they are never winning gold. They are the biggest clear favorite I can remember.

True that we are huge favourites, but as i wrote its single elimination, you never know. That is why "the field" is favourite over Serbia. One bad game from Serbia or one hot night from other team and you are going home.
I just hope we go 120% in every game from the start. Im more afraid of guys like Micic throwing the game away then i am from other teams. We have the best player in the world and we should use him as much as we can. He showed he can handle big minutes, so that shouldnt be a problem.

France U16 sweeping everyone so far. 65 point win vs Switz and 41 point win vs Finland.

Sorry, I will try, I thought people wont be interested in my bets, but just wanted to share...

6 friendly games today :

Poland vs Sweden
Serbia vs Cyprus
Germany vs Slovenia
Bosnia & Herzegovina vs Montenegro
Lithuania vs Georgia
Greece vs Israel.

BOS vs MOn and GRE vs ISR probably most interesting ones, Luka ain't playing in todays game so not sure how interesting that game will be.

Also, not have been discussed, but world cup pre qualifiers happening right now, Croatia of course is the biggest country playing there in European region, with some big name players like Hezonja, Saric and Matkovic being there. Group stage situation after 2 games played.

Why not? It can still give some insight about the games.

I think posting betting odds can be interesting and give insight, but I will try to avoid posting my personal bets, because I understand no one is interested in my bets.

Like today, not many interesting games if we go by odds, just a bunch of massive favorites. Of course, Serbia vs Cyprus will probably just gonna be a massacre, top Serbian players wont play much I imagine, but almost all players on Serbian team are top players by now, with Greece, they still have Samodurov and other young guys who are there more as a novelty, Serbia is just full of veterans, their one young guy is a top 10 pick anyway...

Game against Finland was closer than the final score shows. Things will get more serious (no offense to both Switzerland and Finland) against Slovenia.
Not the best place to speak about U16 though, it should be in draft subforum.

He would have been one of the more interesting players to see in this tournament, since I can't really feel pulse on this guy, I have no idea is he good and how good he is.

122-55 For Serbia, as pretty much expected. Slovenia is currently beating Germans. Montenegro vs Bosnia is close at the half.

I'm pleasantly surprised how good Slovenia is playing without Doncic.

Čančar won't play, they also lost Josh Nebo

Yeah, Luka called out EA7, according to Luka they didn't allow them to play for SLovenia this year. Always a sketchy claim, but maybe there is truth to it. Anyhow, Germany took care of business in the 4th. Montnegro ran with it against Bosnia in a second Half. Lithuania vs Georgia and Greece vs Israel happening right now.

Funny thing about Lithuanian game currently, I am pretty sure NBA ref number 50 (I believe), Gediminas Petraitis, is reffing the game. He also expected to ref in the tournament... We always complained about NBA and FIBA reffing level, and here it is

My personal biggest issue with NBA officiating is how uneven it is. You have stars doing seven step layups and than out of thin air some random role player is being called for travel for doing like half of extra step.

And ball carry and "eurostep" that is excuse to make 5 steps in nba is just on whole different level.

Whole gather step is out of hands. You have people "gathering" for 3rd time in same dribbling
