Anywho, hoping Loveland is okay. Haven't seen him in after that catch and run where he took an awkward decent hit. No surprise but the Bears 3rd/4th string DBs stink.

I thought so too. I think they are just treating Loveland like a starter.

Bears secondary backups look awful out there. Missed tackles, off coverage.

Luther Burden is open on every route he runs so far. Bagent missed him for an easy TD

the mysteries are whether he can be better on that front this year than he was last year, and whether he can get to a point where his talent and johnson's scheming are enough to overcome any shortcomings that persist

1. This was something that should have been scouted. Nobody put a gun to Ryan Poles' head to draft Caleb

2. The OL absolutely did him zero favors which is why they replaced 3, maybe 4 of that grouping. A certain QB in New York has a stacked OL in front of him right now and will look miles better than he ever did here because of it

3. Neither Waldron nor Ben Johnson have developed a QB before - that's on Ryan Poles. Ben's a great playcaller but Goff had already established himself in the NFL

Caleb's not playing today. It's a move that's many fans and media members are critical of considering where he's at in his development. Blind faith hasn't served the Chicago Bears fan well when talking about the QB position.

I agree with almost everything here except the part that Goff was already established. A big reason why BJ gives me hope is because Goff was at the stone cold bottom of his career in terms of play and confidence after McVay gave up on him. Goff was teetering the line of becoming a career backup in his last year in LA/1st year with Detroit. His revival from bust to legit QB is what really turned things around in Detroit, and that was all under BJ developing the offense/reviving Goff.

I just hope Caleb doesn't need to hit rock bottom before turning things around.

Bagent has the arm strength of a toddler.

Braxton played today and looked brutal. Watch him on the TD pass. Barely touched the edge.

Booker is having a good day.

Bagent seems to have just about everything you want in a QB with the glaring exception of arm talent. Which is why he's a backup who went undrafted after playing at D2.

Seems like great QB3 material, but a stretch for QB2.

Seems like every few years we draft a WR in the mid rounds who basically redshirts as a rookie, doesn't play much in year 2, then is out of the league soon after. Tyler Scott is next.

The launch angle on that kick was higher than last year.

Monongai and Burden looked good. Burden impacted the game.

Hypo lite and Noah Sewell good as well. The “starting” O-line as a whole, not that much. I didn’t necessarily get a great look on the backup center Newman, but he played a lot, and I think he got the job done. He needs to be a player. Dominique Robinson looked adequate. Wanted to see more.

The Bagentcy was fairly mediocre, just OK. He didn’t look comfortable. Some missed throws sailing downfield. Some made throws in the system.

Reed has noticeably more zip on his throws than Bagent.

1. This was something that should have been scouted. Nobody put a gun to Ryan Poles' head to draft Caleb

EVERYONE had access to the same game tape on this. and yet it was not known that caleb would have this issue

2. The OL absolutely did him zero favors which is why they replaced 3, maybe 4 of that grouping

that's probably NOT why 3 starters (jones is injured) were replaced. there was no other way to go because caleb did the OL no favors!

A certain QB in New York has a stacked OL in front of him right now and will look miles better than he ever did here because of it

1) likely better, but remains to be seen. plus the tackles are unproven
2) it's not some revelation that better OL results in more effective QB play. the obvious problem is that the more you devote to the OL means the LESS you devote to the rest of the team.
3) a good QB doesn't need a good OL to succeed

3. Neither Waldron nor Ben Johnson have developed a QB before - that's on Ryan Poles.

you're seriously criticizing the BJ hire?

Caleb's not playing today. It's a move that's many fans and media members are critical of considering where he's at in his development. Blind faith hasn't served the Chicago Bears fan well when talking about the QB position.

BJ doesn't care about what has served bears fans well in the past. nor should he

the lengths you're willing to go to get me to defend poles!
