That was Hoffman's 5th blown save. Other elite closers have blown the same amount. The ERA isn't pretty and he's given up a lot more HR's than usual but he's been mostly fine in the closer role.

Overthinking, especially with Hoffman potentially being rusty which could impact his control- stick with Yariel.

I think it would have been better to bring him fresh to start an inning. It would have given him the room to work around a walk or two.

Then again who knows what Yariel would have done.

Hoffman’s been great all year except for May, there was nothing wrong with the decision

I'm not anti-Hoffman like many here. I have posted his stats without May and they are great. So we agree on that.

I thought it was a mistake not bring him in clean inning in the scenario, but I'm not going to really disagree with someone who thinks differently on the strategy,
