Why didn't Hoffman get player of the game?

yeah the 12.17 K/9 clearly shows his stuff sucks

His stuff clearly doesn’t suck

But he is extremely inconsistent. He’s either an elite closer blowing past hitters, or getting very hard contact and walking 5 in less that an inning of work

Very difficult to trust a guy like that as a closer on the post season

I guarantee they won't use him as a closer after today

We escaped LA with a 4 game lead over the Red Sox in the division, 2.5 game lead over the Astros for a first round bye, and 1 game lead over the Tigers for best record in the AL (with the tie breaker).

Either rigging or one of the worst chokes from an umpire you’ll ever see

Did they show the replay? Nothing is worse than the Ben revere call though.

Dodgers broadcast did, was a full swing that neither the HP or 3B ump felt like calling

Schneider allowing Hoffman to stay in the game for the 9th after he couldn't find the strike zone on nearly 20 pitches in the 8th was baffling. Not surprising, it's Schneider after all, but mind blowing how bad he is at making on the fly adjustments. Fluharty made all of that irrelevant thankfully, but a reminder that this is the same guy from the 2022 Wild Card round.

He hasn’t had a walk issue all season until today. Throwing strikes has never been his issue, giving up the occasional HR has.

Just felt like he was massively choking the entire time.

Had no issue with him starting the 9th. It only became Chatwood 2.0 after the BB to start the inning.

I can’t fathom not going to Fluharty for Muncy there

Also it should be said that Schneider wasn’t the only terrible manager that game

Dave Roberts gave the Jays 2 outs for no actual reason at all in the last 2 innings when their pitchers couldn’t throw a strike, it probably won us the game

The double steal attempt was pretty ridiculous.

I just saw somebody on Twitter suggest that we bring in Stroman and make him the closer.

At least Schneider pulled Hoffman after he loaded the bases in the 9th. Hoffman clearly couldn’t find the strike zone.

When Schneider walked to the mound, Hoffman was saying “No, no, no”, but Schneider put in Fluharty anyway.

I don’t think that was called by Roberts. Ohtani probably has the green light when he feels like going at all times, like many other good base stealers. Poor situational running on his part.

Somebody on Twitter hasn’t seen Stroman since about 2018 then

Possibly. The runner behind him, Will Smith, was running too, tho. But he may have just ran once he saw Ohtani go.

Why the **** would Hoffman say no no no he couldn’t throw a strike the entire inning. The **** did he think was gonna happen if he left him out there he would’ve gotten it together after 5 batters where he couldn’t throw a strike. Weird ****
