Chances Pritchard becomes an all star for the upcoming season?

Post#1 » by Ruma85 » Mon Aug 11, 2025 11:01 am

As a Lakers fan I will always dislike the Celtics deeply, but I have major respect & admiration for them, so what's the chances, would they have to be a 5th seed for it happen?

He'd have to have one monster of a season. Even with Tatum out, he'd be at best the 3rd option. I think we do see him improve this year with all of the extra shots that are now available, but I don't think he's winning any awards unless he comes off the bench again.

It’s not going to happen, Boston isn’t going to be good enough to have multiple all stars.

Can White at least get his first AS game appearance, before we start pushing PP?

Unless Jaylen Brown gets hurt he will pretty much be a given in my opinion. Celtics would have to be a Top 4-5 team by the all-star voting in order for Derrick White to make it in my opinion. Celtics would have to be leading the East and probably best record in the NBA in order to get potentially three all-stars.

Very low. Brown is the obvious all-star of the team, and White is the backup option for selection.

It would mean he either became celtics best player or celtics became good enough to merit 3 all stars alongside brown and white

Not to mention Simons will be playing for his next contract so I expect him to take a lot of shots.

He has a short neck, so he is disqualified.

Celtics will be better than people think this season. In the East they can still compete with anyone.

They have four bona fide NBA rotation players (Brown, White, Pritchard, Simons) a couple of edge case guys who will need to step up (Hauser, Boucher, Garza) and then a well of nobodies

They simply don't have the depth to "compete with anyone." Their big man rotation is the worst in the NBA.

Payton Pritchard will not be an all-star.

Basically, he'd have to average about 20 plus points a game (which means probably hitting 5 or 6 threes every night), add in 5 or 6 assists, and not be a negative on defense. On top of that Boston would need to be one of the top 2 or 3 teams in the East - and even then, it wouldn't be a given.
I mean, anything is possible, but I don't think I'd be putting any money down on it.
The better question is probably if White becomes an all star this season.

Is he negative on defense? Elaborate.

He's still behind Brown and White in the pecking order. Boston is not going to have 3 all stars.

He's not really a negative, but he does get challenged all the time because he's not a great defender. He definitely gives it 100% when he's out there, but he's not one of Boston's best defenders. For him to get better offensive numbers it could mean giving up more on defensive, which could lead to him being more of a negative on that end. He'd have to be able to maintain his current level of defense (tenacious, but taken advantage of often because of his height), as well as increase his offensive output.

Low. There are a lot of good guards and the Celtics record this season will drop drastically. I've said before that the better choice would be on the Olympic team. He can wreck a game coming from the end of the bench

I mean, they're not going 0-82 or anything. They're gonna win games just off professionalism.

But they lack depth and all the guys that fed off Tatum's gravity now have to fend for themselves. Not saying they can't or won't (honestly, I'm doubtful), but it's definitely up for serious debate.

Most chances he will score more with lower efficiency
