In fact I have pick one down to two players only. Tomislav Ivisic, and Bennett Stirtz

I've already made this claim!

Bennett Stirtz or Thomas Haugh are the guys I expect to be hornets next year. Maybe Hannes Steinbach

I said this before he played a summer league game but Kon was my pick in the weirdest way lol.

My draft was different this year in that I had a lot of picks. (but I did end up on ONE) which I always do

Walter Clayton - Started out with him but he became popular so I moved on
Kon - I picked him cause I picked him out of who I thought WE would/should pick (which I stated before he played a single summer league game) meaning over the other selections outside of Harper & Flagg. I was actually happy on draft night
Maxime Raynaud - he woulda been my pick on a trade back with multiple first rounders included
Yang - he was considered but I do not remember to what degree
Feilds - I picked him but changed before he played a single summer league game
Hugo Gonzales - He ended up being my top pick

My pick for next year is in already - Tomislav Ivisic

Every player in the draft was somehow your number 1 pick in the weirdest way lol.. and that is what makes you so good at the game.

lmao I concur lol., Well it's called EVALUATING. Something you/everyone does for the most part do every year, but except with only LOTTERY PICKS.

With me I could land on a pick sooner but often I have a good EYE for talent so my pick becomes a HOUSE HOLD NAME. Then I change lol. As you know I can't stand picking players the rest of the world picks lmao.'

You are a great drafted as well btw JMAC3

I forgot to add VJ and Carter Bryant who were also considered.

Last thing but if ya'll notice I stayed with BUB CARRINGTON the whole year. The reason why is because he didn't become popular, so I was able to just focus on him.

I be trying to pick players in the very beginning stage, meaning most of the time I don't even peak to see NEXT years draft. I do SOMETIMES but often I try to start with the 2nd rounders...

Walter Clayton - I liked him in Iona lmao
Ajay Mitchell - I ranked him the top pg in the whole draft
Craig Porter JR - I was a huge fan waaay before the cavs got him
Dalton Knect - I liked him in Northern Colorado
KJ Simpson - I liked him when he was mid ranked high schooler been posting his name for YEARS same as the others
Shaedon Sharpe - I liked him when I didn't see his name on ANY MOCKS meaning that current year or the one AFTER it
PJ Hall - I watched him play MANY times at Clemson and mentioned him here quite a few times
Brandon Miller - I liked him when he was projected around pick 18-20 range
Gradey Dick - I liked him when he wasn't on any mocks to my memory

These are just a few

Guess this goes here:
To build something great, it’s going to take time.
The Hornets know there is no skipping steps, as they showed in the 2025 NBA Draft and continued Laying the Foundation!

This is well worth watching, very good production quality. Gives some insights into their draft process. It either makes clear (or intends to) that Kon was their target as soon as they knew they had pick #4. Also infers they were very high on Liam but it was impossible to predict his slide going as far as it did.

I fear that Peterson demonstrates a trait that I suspected from his first draft; confirmation bias. By that I mean he gets an early read on a player and then builds all observable data, interviews and workouts to confirm his desire for that player. He certainly did that with Tiddy. Kon was legitimately in the discussion for any team as a top 5 pick, but they clearly zeroed in on him immediately. No doubt these teams do a LOT of scouting and research year round, and this is made clear during the video.

Question; who is the big white guy with red hair in their meetings and the draft room?

I think it is former Bengals QB Andy Dalton

I enjoy the real access videos the team puts together. Stuff like the below is just a fun look at how the front office works together.

Near the end of the video after they drafted Kon Jeff Peterson tells the room that Kon's brothers would be in Charlotte the next day playing in a tournament. Someone asks Jeff if he's going and he laughs in disbelief and and says "No, I'm not going. We have the draft tomorrow, you're going."

I got a good laugh out of that.

  He has Tiddy at #81, and Clingan at #15  …but Clingan is a stiff that we would have been foolish to draft

Had they drafted properly, would we be starting Clingan this year given how we dealt Mark and Nurkic? Of course! Never would have added the Plumber. Then we’d have a more serviceable rotation of defensive centers while still looking to eventually land a star with all our “assets”.

Love seeing Brandon ranked 5th, even with his injury hampering his development.

I know this is just an opinion piece, but it provokes some interesting thoughts on draft quality performance.

Yes indeed! Ryan is VP Basketball Operations and Strategy. He was pretty involved in a lot of the meetings and draft day prep (per the Hornets draft video presentation).

Good point and could be another one of the reasons why they were not comfortable drafting Ace

Fats: “ Good point and could be another one of the reasons why they were not comfortable drafting Ace “

Indeed, I think we heard this theme around Bailey from other teams prior to the draft. This level of interaction predraft is valuable. I also think team leaders have to be careful about how much this weighs on their decisions. A guy can be almost a perfect mixture of personality, work ethic and dedication, yet still be too deficient in skill and physical traits (see Tiddy). Falling in love is a funny thing…sometimes it’s true and sometimes it fools ya.

every front office is different. some are comfortable spending huge capital on a guy who refused workouts, some are not (especially if they like other options in that range).

Kaulk is the rook that we need most cause the other 3 one should jump out as SG leader. Not sure we need to go the route of GUARD next year cause there are some GREAT ONES late in Stojokovic, Starling, Kayil,Philon, Bathea just to name a few... But the ones who have stood out to me are

My top 4
Mikel Brown Jr - this would be my pick based off fit for the team.
Alijah Arenas - Took too many sg's this year to not give time to develop
Dash Daniels - Similar to above
Brayden Burrows - Check up dude

Great thing is there are gonna be some GREAT options available to us. The bad thing is THIS YEAR we had GREAT OPTION and DOUBT we took them.

I think Brown could be good cause I think we NEED another PG. We can't seem to rely on MELO and I think Makel Brown should be considered.

sorry to break it to you but Dash Daniels has been disappointing for the junior National team. he's coming off the bench showing a clunky shot, poor handles and defensive struggles. if he doesn't work hard this season his NBA chances might slip away

Damn guess he aint his brother lol. Well good thing for us I aint got him as the pick lmao. Still hope he gets it together but I really like Mikel Brown Jr a lot. Don't be surprised if I do like I did BUB and pick him early on and sit back and chill lol

Changing my tune with Dash, he has been great in the local league.
