Larry Bird is the most skillful and the most entertaining passer of those guys. The only players with more entertaining passing skills than Bird, is obviously Michael Jordan with his big hands and Magic Johnson.

I lean almost Kidd. Sometimes I find Kidd hard to compare to the best (Magic, Jokic, Nash) because he didn't have the scoring pressure those guys do, so there were passes he couldn't unlock. Other times, I find that makes Kidd even more impressive; the way he could pass at that level without drawing in the defense.

Bird might be the even better answer. There are some passes that Bird is the all-time greatest at (touch pass GOD), and he was absolutely ferocious as an improviser.

Luka could eclipse these two. Luka has the magical improv ability, but can also spend full games clinically carving teams up, generating easy lob and open corner threes against elite defenses. What he did to the Wolves in 2024 is something I'll never forget. That was looking like a historic defense, and Luka just absolutely dismantled it like it was an old car he took on as a hobby.

Tyrese Haliburton is the other one to watch. Very Kidd like, but his superior scoring allows him to drag the defense around. He's a quick, unselfish passer that doesn't need to dominate the ball. Kidd and Tyrese are maybe the best hit ahead passers ever.

Lebron and Harden deserve to be on the list, and both their passing is brutally effective. I don't think Lebron's passing bag is quite as deep (his best passing is his brute strength skip passing), and Harden has some weaknesses (struggled forever to pass with his right hand and hit the corner, sometimes gets overly methodical.)

Stockton/Rondo/Paul are all elite, should be ranked on this list. Each has their own sort of blah as passers. Rondo has flashy passes, but most of his assists were just hitting Ray or KG off pin downs. Stockton was a flashy passer in transition, and an excellent entry passer, but in the halfcourt he was vanilla ice cream. Paul was so conservative he missed a lot of potential passes.

Voted Bird.

But I feel like I'm being disrespectful only getting to vote for one. Basically, it's like voting for which flavor of amazing is the best.
