Just admit you are just like most people in this thread having strong opinions about a player none of us have watched in years :D

Just admit he’s not the difference maker that you think he is which is why no team has signed him :D

From Google AI

Yes, Chris Jent has a close relationship with LeBron James, stemming from their time together with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Jent served as LeBron's personal shooting coach and worked closely with him on player development from 2006-2011. Their relationship extended beyond basketball, with Jent even joining James on vacations and James expressing that he trusted Jent implicitly.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:

Personal Shooting Coach:
Jent was LeBron's go-to coach for improving his shooting mechanics and overall game.

Deep Trust:
LeBron has publicly stated his trust in Jent and the strong bond they formed during their time in Cleveland.

Off-Season Work:
They worked together extensively during the off-seasons to further refine LeBron's game, even traveling together to maintain continuity.

Coaching Staff Ties:
Jent and James also worked together on the Atlanta Hawks coaching staff in 2017-18 and again with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Positive Impact on James' Game:
Jent's work with LeBron significantly impacted James' shooting percentage and overall offensive game, according to The New York Times, Buckeye Sports Bulletin, and The Columbus Dispatch.

Current line-up and approximate minute allocation:

C Mitch(25) , KAT(15), Huk(8)
PF KAT(17), Yabu (20), OG (11)
SF OG(21), Hart (20), Yabu (5)
SG Bridges (32) , Hart (5), McBride (11)
PG Brunson (33), Clarkson (15)

McBride and Clarkson really don't have a ton of minutes available to them unless you drastically reduce Harts minutes.

*Players in orange are players who should probably get a few more minutes in a better balanced line-up

**Players in red are players who definitely should get more minutes in a better balanced line-up

Trade scenario #1 (possible substitution of Mitchell Robinson/McBride instead of Josh Hart):

Image

Possible line-up after trade and approximate minute allocation:

C Mitch(25) , KAT(15), Huk(8)
PF KAT(17), Yabu (20), Lebron (11)
SF LeBron(21), Bridges(15), Yabu (12)
SG Bridges (18) , McBride (22), Clarkson (8)
PG Brunson (33), Clarkson (15)

*Much better balanced lineups in terms of minutes allocation

So some weeks ago I was reading some rumors about a trade with Jazz involving Towns and Markkanen. Now after watching Markkanen beasting his way to 48 points vs Belgium, bulldozing players like a prime Giannis, not sure if that trade would be so crazy after all.

Jaytwill :D

I didn't watch that series either 8-)

But I did watch Landry Shamet average 2.4 PPG, 0.4RPG, 0.7APG while collecting DNP's and wondered why Thibs didn't play him more when he provided good defense in that Pacers series and he was one of the team's best shooters finishing the season.

I honestly don't care about Ben's stats after 18 games on a new team. I just want a true assessment of what Simmons looks like in 2025, good and bad, and not just some old narrative. I can't tell if it is 2021 or 2025 reading this discussion :D

All I see is he is toxic and he can guard 1-5. I don't know if either of those things are true in 2025. I've been watching many of his clips but I can't get a full picture of his game from that and I refuse to trust MDB after his views on other former Nets :D

So....

Westbrook and Simmons? Lol

Not the worst idea good coaching and maximize both guys in limited minutes/roles.

Some games they sit, some they play...all situational

Can we get both?

Also, when are we trading Mitch and Duece for a starting center?

Westbrick ain't coming here for occasional minutes. Same reason why Ben hasn't signed here. Not enough minutes.

They are searching for more minutes and they both won't find much here.

I'm not sure we can predict what the available minutes are considering there is a new coach with new pieces. We don't know how deep Brown's regular rotation will be and what the minute distribution will be. I believe he initially started with a 10 man rotation in Sacramento.

Thibs went 7-8 deep most of the year while Hart led the team at almost 38 mpg. OKC went 10-11 deep with Caruso being 9th on that team at 19mpg. Personally I would prefer Caruso over Hart but somehow Caruso received half as many minutes and didn't seem to mind.

Despite Thibs reluctance to playing the bench and having 3 players in the top 6 in mpg he still gave over an average of 28mpg to Sims, Precious, Hukporti, Wright and Kolek none of whom were in the rotation by the start of the postseason. Some of that came in limited garbage time but most of that was due to injuries.

Unless you think this is the year that everyone stays healthy on a team that includes Mitch, KAT, OG, Clarkson and even guys like Brunson and McBride that miss some time there will be a significant amount of minutes available to another player/players throughout the season.

Part of my intrigue with Simmons is the multiple holes he could possibly fill. If Mitch or OG go down someone like Brogdon is not helping to fill much of that hole. If a guard/ball handler goes down someone like Precious would not fill part of that hole. Ben could fill the Sims, Precious, Hukporti, Wright and Kolek roles from last year and potentially be an upgrade. Those players were on the court for a ton of minutes last year.
