Brewers/Pirates Series

Post#1 » by MickeyDavis » Sun Aug 10, 2025 9:27 pm

If we're going to stumble it will probably be against the terrible Pirates

Monday - 6:40 - Quintana vs. Heaney
Tuesday - 6:40 - Peralta vs. Skenes
Wednesday - 1:10 - Woodruff vs. Keller
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

National media eagerly awaiting a stumble to relieve their cognitive dissonance. How can a team with no stars be so dominant? They must be a regular season phenomenon that will falter in the playoffs, right? Why aren't the Dodgers running away with things after we said they'd win 120 games this season?

Just sit back and enjoy every day.

I'd be lying if I said I didn't think this team had an expiration date. Year after year we say "this year feels different." Makes me feel like a Bears fan.

Doesn't mean I am enjoying this season any less. This is my favorite Brewers team ever. If they get bounced in round one or a wild card series it doesn't change how awesome this season has been. They're the real life Indians from Major League. And if the magic carpet somehow doesn't run out of gas it will mean that much more.

I feel the same way (although I'd call it my second-favorite Brewers team ever, since I'm old enough to have rooted for the Yount-Molitor-Cooper 1982 team).

There is no such thing as playing with house money, since once you win it it's your money, not the house's, and I think that expression is stupid. But that's what this team is doing, and whatever happens in the next couple of months won't diminish what we're feeling now.

Our current roster is 21-61 lifetime vs. Heaney. Ortiz is 3-5, all 3 hits were homers. Turang 4-5, Durbin 2-2, Contreras 3-6. We roughed him up in June, 4IP, 7H, 7ER. He's terrible on the road.

On the flipside, Pirates players are 21-90 vs. Quintana. McCuthen 6-25, Pham 6-22. Quintana has been much better on the road though.

"tHey ArE So lUckY!!11!" they'll say, moments after beautifully small-ball manufacturing a run.
