I don’t think anyone ever thought Caleb Martin was more than a 3 and D guy.

Assume if he’s still healthy, he’ll be the same guy he was in 2023-2024 and he’ll be a slight (but clear) positive.

And if his game sipped due to a hip injury? then he’ll be a negative...

But he’s just a 3/d guy to me..

speaking of the Martin's, i'm a little surprised nobody's picked up Cody yet. like, he does suck in general, but his defense is fine, and he can at least emulate the Mavs Josh Green role of standing in a corner and waiting for wide open threes.

Curious whether Cody's knee is just completely shot, or if his tendency to over-dribble to nowhere actually killed his career.

After their first two seasons in Charlotte, I would never have expected Caleb's career to outlive Cody's.

I would bet that he has some non-guaranteed training camp offers from teams right now. Probably holding out to see if he can get something with any guaranteed money.

Jake Fischer mentioned today interest from GSW in a double BYC sign-and-trade with Giddey and Kuminga. That would be a wild one to pull off.

Any idea on the mechanics of such a move?

Chicago has the TPE to make it work pretty easily (taking in Moody, or a third team’s player with Moody ending up there) but GSW also only has 25 mil under second apron (36 with Moody involved) and needs to fill 6 roster spots. And seems to have promised Al over the vet min

Seems like it would cost GSW both Moody and Buddy in order to backfill vet mins. Then you can give Al 5~ sign 6 vet mins (say 14 mil) and still have 26 for Giddey’s first year? All finger math..

Forgot about the Bulls' TPE. Dubs also have a fairly good sized one that can help make the math work fairly easily, but like you said they're better off unloading salary elsewhere in order to fill out their roster. I played around with it a bit on Spotrac with the Jazz. This would be a good use of the Collins TPE to acquire more assets in exchange for expiring deals; I still see them sticking with the "no future money" plan unless the returning assets are really good.

Giddey pretty set on that 25M+ starting number?

If they could get him talked down a bit and find a way to keep Moody I'd really like it for them.

More neutral on it if they send out Moody/Buddy/Kuminga for him.

I know cap wise it would take a lot more... but strictly on value, how far is both KAT and OG from Giannis? Would Milwaukee prefer to keep the vets or spin them off for picks?

I have OG probably closer to neutral value on his contract, and while I think KAT is underrated, he also definitely has a ceiling that limits teams. I dont see Milwaukee being interested in either player and i think it would be hard to find enough value from those 2 on the open market to send to the Bucks. And with no picks or young talent themselves, i just dont see how NY wins the Giannis sweepstakes, even if Giannis wants to go there

Yeah, it's nearly impossible to find a way.

Giddey is a nice fit for GSW, I really like that move for them.

Same. Maybe it is okay if they can also get rid of PWill as a part of the deal, but I'm not sure there is a third team willing to make that happen for assets GSW/CHI would put on the table.

I have a hard time seeing Giddey as a fit next to Jimmy

Some Laker fans seem to be mad about not trading Gabe/Vando? Lakernation/Trevor.

I mean there are no details on what it was for or what picks needed to be added. Not enough information to care either way.

I think Gabe should be close to neutral value since he's expiring, only $11m and is rotation level.
I think Vando is probably negative value because of injuries.

I'm not ready to give up on Vando just, see how he goes this season.

As for Gabe surely we could get something for him? Without attaching anything?
