I think Bruce Brown will be the backup point guard, just as he was during the championship season. Micic has underperformed so far and appears a tad bit slow. Brown looked better as a point in Denver.

There is a roster spot available, so anything is possible.

It is just MY speculation but it has a lot of reasonability to make this assumption. He and Jokic have a good friendship (good replacement for Cancar), strong history with the Serbian Nat'l team and he's experienced, a better ball-handler than Brown but not as good of a shooter as of late. Also, as you noted, we do have the roster spot.

On another noteof speculation, I really don't see Hunter Tyson lasting beyond this season. He hasn't shown any growth in SL, can't expect that in the real world.

Dominant performance in the SL by DaRon Holmes, stat line of 19/17/5/2 vs. LAC tonight. Shows this guys potential, looking forward to his 2025-26 debut season.

Came here to say Denver's new FO did great so far and to ask: why haven't the Nuggets signed Curtis Johnson yet?

He looked great imo and would fit this Nuggets team in the next couple of seasons perfectly

Nuggets just went from having horrible depth and simply put - unacceptable depth for a serious contender to having good and adequate depth

Jokic,AG,Murray,CJ,Braun - incredible starting 5, just as good and imo slightly better than with MPJ

Bruce Brown,JV, THJ round 8 a solid and legit 8 man rotation, Watson could make the cut for top 8 too, it's more of a legit 9 man rotation

and then guys like Strawtether,Holmes,Nnaji and Pickett which can also contribute and fill holes in the lineups and perhaps one of these could become a mainstay in the rotation

Nuggets have a shot this year if Murray can regain some form and they stay healthy throughout

Hunter Tyson doesn't belong in the NBA. He's proven that and he got more minutes last RS under Malone that he deserved. He showed nothing then and he's 26 now I think. I'm sure he's a good guy but he looks like a lost labrador out there. That spot should go to someone younger with some upside.

That is the problem; the Nuggets depend on Murray. I have zero confidence in him, and I cannot wait to see him leave.

I've always wondered how MPJ would respond to increasing his role in the offense, raising from the 3rd option to the 2nd. I always suspected he could raise his scoring, reboundi and perhaps his assists (a little anyway) up to the 23-27ppg, 10reb area, especially working with Jokic. While we can't do that now, seems he is taking his new teams follow:

"I'm not even gonna lie, they got me working probably as hard as I've ever worked."

Team Rotation & Needs

8 Primary Players
Bigs -- Jokic .. Gordon .. Valanciunas .. (Johnson)
Wings -- Johnson .. Brown .. Braun .. Hardaway
Point -- Murray

Bench -- Which get 15 mpg?
Nnaji .. Watson .. Strawther .. Pickett

Backup Point?
Since Jokic is our best point -- Are we good with our current options? We've got wings that are decent enough ball handlers; right?

Brown does seem like he'll backup Murray right now at PG, suddenly one of our biggest needs. And of note, you left off Holmes. Watson, Strawther and Pickett will get some developmental minutes depending on what they show in training camp but it won't surprise me to see Holmes get more minutes than Nnaji, perhaps even more than Watson.

Yeah, I left Holmes off. I don't believe he'll get many minutes. It seems like (previous) front office and coach liked Nnaji's potential more. But I was considering Nnaji at 3rd PF. I know the league has gone to smaller centers but I just don't believe Nnaji is a good enough center. So maybe I should have added Holmes. I think maybe I made a mistake there. He'd actually make a nice backup center -- in a couple of years.

Really thinking Holmes has shown enough to get minutes over Nnaji, so gotta disagree here WY

I think he's going to contribute and will be signed to a standard contract eventually

He became untradable the second he signed that albatross extention

A contending team with Jokic in the tail end of his prime, can't attach assets to flip him and they're unlikely to get a better player in return

In a season or two when he'll have less years on his deal, that route will go back to being viable

with that said, he's due a bounce back season. I dont know if it was health, shape, mental issues or whatever the case may be, he played particularly poorly all of last season. actually he was also horrendous playing for Canada over the summer. he's likely to play better thus season. yes, he's very overpaid, very flawed player (just like MPJ) was and it's quite maddening to see his poor I.Q and decision making at times but he's a competitor, a good shooter and a very skilled player, not to mention clutch af

So yeah, Jokic would have steamrolled the league with a guy like Jaylen Brown or J-Dub as his number two but with the depth you guys have now, even 80% of the best version of Murray gets u a title chance each season until Jokic either declines or loses interest in the NBA

Both are going to get mins and would have a shot to earn their spot and will compete for mins and general depth pecking order. I exepect Holmes to win this competition pretty quickly.

Nuggets sign 6-8 F Kessler Edwards on a tryout, could fill our 15th spot. Guys is only 25yo and shot 36% from 3-pt range, could be what we thought we had in Hunter Tyson. He's played all 3 front court positions.

It seems like Dallas did not want to lose him but they were out of options due to their inability to sign him to an additional two way contract given CBA limitations. Roster slots are hard to come by these days and for some teams, two ways are becoming more important. https://hoopshabit.com/mavericks-quietly-part-another-piece-last-years-roster-edwards

He may be a prospect to watch given the reaction in Dallas.

Very interesting article there Tuna, I think we snagged a good prospect. Builds our war-chest at the least. Looks to give direct competition to PWatt IMO, especially since he's coming up on a new contract (more direct competition for $$ with Braun), just coincidence ??

I would rather have one more guy who can cover 1 to 3, than a big..give minutes to Holmes, Watson and Nnaji, and then try to get something for Nnaji by the deadline

I like the Moses Brown pick up for your team. Hopefully he sticks. Good 3rd string C, shoring up the position well after getting Val, too. Solid off-season. Better, deeper, more dangerous team.
