To me the asterisk is because of the truncated season playing into the hands of a team like the Lakers with older players like James and Davis being able to be completely fresh for those playoffs. That, and the fact that many didn't really give a schiit at that point. It was like an afterthought - I mean, I watched exactly zero of those playoffs.
Also can't discount the ease of no travel during the postseason and not having to perform in front of fans, especially in away arenas.
The players can moan all they want how the Disney resort was like staying in an insane asylum to give it credit, but they got more rest than ever during the bubble and the nice little 3 month offseason within a season beforehand. Definitely an asterisk.
I agree with historical context. But that asterisk can make it harder or easier.
I mean Lakers would've had home court and they didn't get that advantage. I maintain the biggest real change is the break in between. That allowed many teams they went to against to improve. Lakers were already the Lakers that season... But more rested I guess
Respectively disagree. You give LeCorn and the paper machete man aka AD the option of a 4 month breather right before the playoffs or homecourt in front of a bunch of celebrities, they're taking that quarantine every time. No team out West has been afraid to play in Staples Center since 2010-2011.
It's no surprise the Lakers have flamed out each season since 2020. What went down in the bubble was only ever happening in the bubble. One playoff missed, 3 first round exits and a 4-0 spanking in a conf finals.
Here Lies The Process
