The front office knows this, so if they are choosing not to offer him the full max (which is understandable, frankly), then they are choosing to move on.
The only option right now is 4yrs, $229o do you think Trae would accept that extension, ifm, s it was offered to him before the season?

People made hay about his comments regarding Micah Parson's contract. What do you think this infers?

when someone will take less early to stay in a place he wanted to be forever, you do it… the price only goes up now!

Do I know tor sure? No. But he wasn't offered!
I think both sides know that $229m won't get a deal done.

If it's the only option at the moment then I understand why it's not on the table.

I genuinely hope Trae has as much success as possible in the upcoming season so he has more leverage.

There are way more options than just the 4 year/$229 million contract offer.

Luka's extension is the ideal length and dollar amount for Trae. It would allow TY to opt out at the the 10 year mark and sign a longer deal at a higher pay rate.

Read on Twitter

I think he was talking about the max that could be offered now and not the supermax.
And yes, I talked on the squawk back in March about yhe possibility of Trae doing a 2+1 deal to get to 10 years and particularly his options if ownership wasn't willing to keep adding talent.

No, it's exactly the opposite. Several reporters, including the extremely player-friendly Marc Spears, indicate that Trae is upset that an offer has not been made. I see no reason to think that he'd decline a 30% max if offered. If anything, he was expecting it a month ago.

Regarding the 35% max, only the Hawks can offer that and that's only if he makes All-NBA. Next July, other teams will be capped at a 4-year deal that is likely less than what the Hawks can offer right now.

The obvious conclusion is that the Hawks don't want to give Trae a 30% max. I still think they're bluffing, though.

Time will tell.
I have no reason to believe Trae would accept 4yrs, $229m, so we'll see what he ends up signing for.
