It seems that Savinho to Spurs may be a domino in City signing Rodrygo from Real Madrid.

Interesting story unfolding. Hope this happens, from a Spurs perspective at least. We're not in the same calibre of teams as City so I don't really care if they sign Rodrygo, and Savinho is a good player. Nice market opportunity, potentially.

This is an aside, but it seems like Donnarumma is being allowed to walk from PSG.

Man United should be jumping at that. Onana and Bayindir are total donkeys and Gigio is arguably the best GK in the world, could probably get him for a reasonable fee with only one year left on his contract. I know that Galatasaray have been linked and I'm surprised there isn't more interest. Maybe clubs are waiting for him to become a free agent in 2026, or his salary demands are too high?

Apparently his salary demands are borderline outrageous, although he’s been top 3 gk in the world pretty consistently the past couple of seasons, with this past year being probably his best one yet.
Sucks for him that after such a season he gets frozen out, but from a business standpoint, I understand it.
Also I guess L Enrique wants a keeper who is better with his feet…questionable decision for anyone who watched Gigio save them repeatedly on their way to the final in UCL

I see his current salary puts him at like what $12 mil Euros. On Pace for Mount and Sancho at United. If he wants like an extra mil or 2 a year. Worth it. He would be like the 3rd top Earner besides Bruno and Casimiro and the latter is gone next year. You get Donna in his prime at 26 for the next 5 years.

Another potential domino: Ederson to Galatasaray, Donnarumma to City?

Not even going to get my hopes up about Eze after the MGW fiasco.

One of my favourite players in the Premier League, might politely **** my pants if we sign him and Savinho. Thought for sure he'd end up at Arsenal, still might knowing how this window has been going.

Newcastle buys Thiaw from Milan for 35million pounds…quite a bit much for him I’d say

Yeah that's very likely. Gala already came to an agreement with Ederson while ago and was waiting for the transfer fee to drop, this should do it. I dont know how to feel about it, great with his feet but had a pretty bad year keeping.

I like that Luis Enrique reacts quickly when players start to have wandering eyes.

£40 mill for Ramsey… I’m sad to see him go because I’ll always root for youth players especially ones that support Villa. However given the fee and what he’s contributed in the last couple years and the fact that he wants to go, it’s a good deal. He’ll probably do well at Newcastle as he can play in that advanced ‘8’ role that we don’t do at Villa.

Interesting post. I thought he was one of the better CB in Italy? Seems athletic and doesn't treat the ball like a grenade like a lot of players in that division.

Newcastle have some of the best pro-scouts around as well, so I usually give their recruitment the benefit of the doubt.

What do/don't you like about him?

Also what's your impression on wonderkid Leoni.

Supposedly a lot of players have no interest in going to Newcastle or any of the northern England teams. They will use Newcastle to bid up their contracts but they have no interest in actually playing there.

Newcastle have traditionally done well to retain most of their talent but unfortunately they've run into the conundrum of overlapping targets with some of the larger legacy clubs. There's typically a hierarchy in football when it comes to transfers starting with Madrid at the very top of the pyramid.

I think what Newcastle should have done, or should be doing, is exactly what the 'Big Six' have done to them.

They have a proven pathway of developing high potential talent and their hit rate with transfers has been impressive. They should be leveraging that reputation into cannibalizing the clubs beneath them to create further separation.

Monitor the transfer activity for clubs like Palace, Brighton, Bournemouth, Sunderland, Leeds, Everton, Forest and be ready to intercept.

I just think for that price it's nothing but a great deal of business by Milan. He's certainly not bad but I've found him to be error prone. I don't trust him much in one on one situations against opponents with pace. There are several CBs in Serie A i'd put over him who supposedly do not have that lofty a price.
He started for a Milan team that missed out on Europe, although I admit he did put in some impressive performances last season, notably in UCL, which is what likely caught the eye of clubs outside of Italy. And he is still fairly young...even Rudiger had the "error prone" label during his time in Serie A and now he is a starter for Real Madrid. Allegri was allegedly very upset by his departure, so that too is a good sign for Newcastle fans.

Leoni had an impressive second half of last season and certainly appears to be legit, but it's too small a sample size. He showed great composure and defensive ability, as well as proving to be a great passer for a CB. But the hype is because it is so rare to see a teenager do what he did in Serie A.
I am already worried he'll get buried on the bench at Liverpool... would've much rather he stayed at a small club for another season or two and get consistent minutes as a starter.

Liverpool missed out on Yoro (two years ago) and Huijsen (last year). Been clear for awhile now the club wanted to sign a young CB to develop.

Apparently, LFC were adamant he stays with the first team, and not brought in only to be loaned out.

It will be interesting to see whether Guehi arrives or not, because that will certainly lessen his playing time.

Agree on this. Wish him nothing but success (not against us though). He was a real rising star until he got that foot injury 18-24 months ago. Since that , he has had a number of other minor setbacks and just hasn't been able to string a good run of form together.

He has the talent and ability, just needs to stay fit and get a chance.

Seems like Trossard and Lokonga are on the move.
That creates room for a new left winger (I hope)

Leon Bailey close to joining Roma, thank goodness. He had an amazing season 2 seasons ago, but that seems like a huge purple patch. Hes a nice guy and all but I won’t miss him running into blind alleys and struggling to take his man on. More wages off the books thankfully.

I hope so too. Kinda weird that they suddenly backed off of Eze...so I figured they were just gonna roll with Martinelli and Trossard. Will be interesting to see who actually ends up being sold. Figured Sambi Lokonga, Nelson, Vieira, Zinchenko, Trossard, and Martinelli would all be gone.
