He was just a young guy having fun. If this was done today that's a totally different situation but we haven't heard of anything like it aside from these old examples.

I'm GenX, and it isn't funny to me either. The hazings and initiations that went on in the 80s and 90s weren't OK. Locking a bunch of players in the bathroom on a bus trip is one thing, but when it gets to bodily fluids or physical force that can injure or kill... screw that. They used to hang freshman wrestling team by their ankles out of the 3rd floor windows at my school. The local JrA hockey team used to make rookies stand in a circle and toss off on a piece of bread, and the last one had to eat it. Never minf the stories of basically rape with sticks, bats, teabagging, feces and urine... like, what kind of small, broken brain do you have to have to think this is ok, let alone funny?

If you guys want to glorify being small minded dumb****s, be my guest, but do not attempt to say it was all well and good and totally normal back then. It happened more, but there was a reason everyone was supposed to keep your mouth shut and not talk about it - because it's **** behavior from poorly evolved humans who can't be trusted to be in charge of anyone, so it's no wonder why they often end up seeking careers as cops and politicians.

No it wasn't but context has gotten lost per usual. At that point we were fighting back against dudes getting beaten up and legit terrorized in locker rooms. Team alphas were constantly swinging on teammates, hazing had gotten completely out of control in high schools and colleges to the point dudes were getting hospitalized while the pros were looked at as setting an example, guys were terrified of coming out of the closet because their careers would be ruined, and women were fighting to even be allowed in the locker room.

In that environment Shaqs kind of behavior would have been seen as "playful" and the much better of evils. There were bigger fights to fight and that we've gotten to this fight being the battle ground proves that progress, though slow, has been made.

Shaq is not a likable person at all and Inside the NBA has now become a terrible show because of him.

I think when TNT first tried it they thought it would be a slam dunk given Shaq's public persona. But after the first few episodes it was clear the whole thing went off the rails. I remember hearing that he was close to being fired but they couldn't just ditch them because of how awkward it'd make the show.

Now the only thing he's good for is Shaqtin, which he doesn't even make, and laughing really loud at Barkley's jokes/gaffs.

I played high school and college sports in the late 90s early 2000s. Doesn't have anything to do with time

I didn't play that **** then. I made it clear anyone messes with me like that I'll be looking for you, your pets or your family.

I remember being varsity baseball as a freshman, all the seniors knew you'd have to call the police for what I did in response if you disrespected me. I saw them take other freshman from the freshman team, put them in a locker and pee on them.
