I didn't play that **** then. I made it clear anyone messes with me like that I'll be looking for you, your pets or your family.

I remember being varsity baseball as a freshman, all the seniors knew you'd have to call the police for what I did in response if you disrespected me. I saw them take other freshman from the freshman team, put them in a locker and pee on them.

Putting someone's mouthpiece in your *** isn't just a young guy having fun. That's a death sentence as far as I'm concerned.

**EDIT** - I saw them do something to a different freshman during tryouts, I believe my exact words were ..."If you disrespect me like that, just remember we play a sport with bats laying everywhere. You'll turn your back to me eventually. Your family is around too. 911 will be called"

I’m not 100% sure if murdering entire families is the appropriate response tho.

Anyway yeah today's generation definitely soft bro..

That's somewhat similar (minus the family and pets part ) to how I handled it myself when I was on teams 20 some years ago. I made it known that I didn't pull any pranks and therefore expected none do be done to me. I said I don't play those games and I'll just start swinging no questions asked on anyone who messed with me or my equipment and it worked.

Gee you guys seem like really fun people to be around...

FWIW I'd have pulled the prank and been more than happy to throw hands if you felt the need.

(Obviously I'm not advocating for arse sweat or **** pranks - That's just waaaaay too far - But would 100% hide a bike or something like that)

This was a long time ago but I didn't really care about being fun to be around. The prank wars always escalated quickly in dressing rooms. I played hockey so I'd see things like guys throwing each others equipment in the shower so it was all soaked right before a game in a cold arena. Or tying all kinds of knots in skate laces. Then there was the next level stuff like pissing on each other in the shower, putting A535 in jockstraps, putting clear shinpad tape on skate blades (really dangerous for injury), sh*tting in each others bags etc. It often started with something simple like someone hiding a teammates dress tie to delay them getting changed and leaving after a game. I wasn't game for any of that nonsense.

Brother I played Rugby League as a young fella so I know exactly what happens in the sheds (I was also in the Aus Army for a decade... we did some diabolical **** to each other) - As long as there wasn't the escalation you speak of at the end of your post, I see no problem with a bit of pranking - Hiding a bike is tame as hell though and am guilty of **** like that, but can hand on heart say I've never **** in anything

I'm all for normal pranks. Hiding the bike, fine. Peanuts in the car, cool. But when you're locking someone in a locker and peeing on them? Or putting someone's mouth piece in your ***?

Nah, that's crossing a line to a level of disrespect I can't abide as a man. It requires a similar response.

If you think putting someone in a locker and peeing on them, or putting someone's mouth piece in your *** doesn't require a psychopathic level response, you're soft. In my opinion, those are actions of psychopaths as well. I'm fighting fire with fire at that point

To be fair, I ran the streets a lot. Bulletproof isn't a name I chose for no reason. Some know the story, but respect as a man is a big thing to me. I expect, and give that respect before anything else at every job/thing I do. I tell that to employees I train, I tell them I will respect you as man before anything else, I will not cross that line over anything at the job, but I have 0 tolerance when it's not reciprocated.

Doing what I saw, and what Shaq did are beyond pranks. They're degrading, disrespectful and demeaning as a man.

I will never get why some think that it's funny when one is just annoying others.

Right, Shaq went even further, just being gross. The problem might have been that he was somewhat too big to fail and thus enjoyed some protection as standing up against the superstar of your team might endanger your own career in the end.

Yeah, the types of stuff Shaq does are the actions of a psychopath. Same as threatening someone's family. That tends to be on the extreme edge of psychopath behavior.

Conflating Shaq's psycho behavior onto an entire nation of people even in a thread where many are condemning it seems pretty trollish. You can do better.

Has any former teammate said anything good about Shaq? I struggle to think of a single one.

People are gonna clown you for this but you're right in general. Lot of people haven't had to deal with that because of their environments but yeah sometimes you don't really have a choice. I'm pretty cool-headed and prefer to stick in environments where I don't have to watch my back, but part of me still keeps cautious and has something ready just in case. If you spent time running streets then that's gonna be deeper in you too, hard to shake that.

I wonder what it'd be like in the NBA though, and for a player like Amundson. So much money at stake + so much to lose, that'd be in my head.
