A series win is a series win. Hoffman and the bullpen did a great job today. Scherzer looking like his old self. If he continues to pitch like this, he is my Number 1 Starter in the playoffs. Unless Bieber regains his elite form.

Varsho doesn’t start, Jays win. No surprise.
Jays play their best catcher and they win. No surprise.

And the demise of Vlad was hilariously and greatly exaggerated. Best player on the team for years, by far.

He gave up a lot of hard hit fly balls though

It’s not Bowden Francis level but his HR rate is among the highest of any SP in baseball

Given everything else though I’d put him behind only Gausman and Lauer right now in this rotation though (which means he’s still pretty clearly a playoff starter for us even if Bieber is good)

MVP Varsho came in as a Pinch Runner though (lol).

Idk if it’s just me but he gave up a lot of hard contact today despite the win. Felt very berrios like

Glad they could squeeze out a series win against a good team, especially with some tough pitching matchups coming up against Texas. Shoutout to Vlad for providing all the offence, that's why we pay him the big bucks.

Got that 2015 Royals mojo going. John Schneider playing the role of Ned Yost is surprisingly apt as well.

Nothing to do with this game, but do these things take into account foul balls? You hit a ball 400 feet and goes foul by 3 feet, I think that’s pretty unlucky.

But it’s also better than the Astros (by 1 as of right now) and Mariners. And based on fangraphs’ model, the Mariners have the 3rd best chance of winning the World Series (we’re 4th).

Edit: after today’s games, we’re now tied with the Mariners for third at 8.8%.

Nick Kurtz actually has better numbers than some of those over his last 25 games. He has an impossible .525 BABIP over that span, tho.
