I (kind of) defended the team passing on OTs in the draft. In part because their need was so obvious, teams repeatedly took OTs just before their picks and arguably the value wasn't there (though they didn't seem to care much about value in taking Martin and Stout in the third....). But how do you not at least add one in UDFA? I was calling for them to draft Logan Brown from the fifth round on. Hollin Pierce wasn't a great fit, but he had some potential at least and went to the Eagles, who have a hell of a lot more depth at the position than we do.

Just do ANYTHING to either improve the backups or plan for the future at the position. Ugh.

Ozzy Trapilo was taken 13 picks after Collins in the 2nd and it looks like he might be starting LT for Chicago soon

again, if we get **** this year because of the OL, zero sympathy for Lynch/Shanny.

I thought that was early for Trapilo, but I also thought he was probably a RT only. Good on him if he proves me wrong.

No argument re: Lunch and Shanahan and the failure to address OT. I (and many, many others) have been screaming "OT!" throughout the past several drafts and they have done nothing to address the position. They seemingly didn't even try to find an UDFA for the past few years (given how thin they are and how many UDFAs have done well for this team in the past, I'd have to think any UDFA OT would have jumped at the chance to play for them). They brought in an injured vet after the draft who is now on IR. They're playing a guard and a slow-footed journeyman in the backup roles. It is a huge issue, and is at least largely of their own making.

Oh, and just a bit more salt in the wound: after reports that we had signed DJ Humphries proved wrong, he went and signed with the Rams.

This is getting concerning at WR, RB, and DT in particular. Do we even have enough players to practice and play in a game? It seems like we're so thin at some of these spots that guys are getting injured from overuse now. What a nightmare. How does this happen every year without any apparent efforts to address the problem?

Add CB to that list. I didn't realize Tre Brown was hurt, to go with Stout and Green. Unreal.

They gotta really audit the way they operate because the consistent amount of injuries is too much of a pattern to be chalked up to bad luck.

We're consistently in the top 10 for injuries and if it was just done to luck we'd see way more fluctuations in that number.

If I remember correctly the practices were shortened because of all the injuries, previously. It’s a **** curse.

I think it's a santa clara thing. Whether it's the turf/grass/facilities/weather or the supernatural, I am not qualified to say. Probably all of the above.

I think 90 minutes is pretty typical. They'll go like two hours some days, but they do seem to be on the shorter end of the spectrum.

I'm not certain whats' causing this, but all options need to be open to address it. It's just been too consistent. And at this point, it's legitimately threatening to derail this season.

Looks like the Ozzy Trapilo potentially starting may be more of an indictment of Braxton Jones than a testament to his strong play:

Former UDFA also got some first-team LT reps this week.

Pearsall's first drive 3 receptions 43 yards, not bad. Hopefully a good sign that the flashes he showed at the end of the year might carry over.

Where is Cowing? He was back this week but not playing? Hodgins instead, whoever he is.

On a FG? Brutal. And right on cue, Moody misses.
