The way Tucker's been hitting lately, we'll have to see how much he's really worth.

It does seem like teams like LA and NY always are active with the big names, and somehow they still bring up great players from their own org. Cubs farm system is finally starting to produce. I hope they have enough quality in it to get us to the next level, because right now I feel like we're still not in the very top tier. I'm happy we're at least making progress though, and it's a hell of a lot better than it was the past 5 years or so, so I can't be too mad. The Rickets just aren't in the same league as some of these other ownership groups.

I totally understand not wanting to trade Ballesteros but I find it hard to imagine we couldn't make a deal involving Cassie, or any other OF who is currently part of a surplus. Is Tuck already giving hints that he's on his way out and so we're preserving those assets as a contingency?

There were more buyers than sellers but our moves were flatout underwhelming. We really needed another solid arm for the rotation, even with Taillon and Assad coming back. Either this organization is cheap or the asking price for Gore was too high. I would have been happy with a Zac Gallen or even old man Verlander...

Horton with nearly 18 scoreless innings streak.

Fly the W!

Will gladly take a 1-0 dub.

Palencia gives up a run in the top of the 9th to tie the game, and then Justin Turner saves the day with a pinch hit two run walkout home run in the bottom half of the inning. When I saw he was pinch hitting for Bush, I thought "what are they doing?" And then he parks one.

The Cubs desperately needed that ending after the past couple of days. Another late-inning loss would have felt far more back-breaking than it really would have been.

Cubs bounced back today, but still 4 games back of MIL now. But still have second best record in all of baseball. They may not win their division, but they could still make noise in the post season if they can get back to how they were playing earlier in the year.

Horton starting to look like an ace. Up to 99mog today. Starting to make it look easy.

We'll see how long it lasts. They're already protecting him pretty significantly; he's going to smash his career highs in innings. Hopefully he doesn't fade.

Which is why I expect the Cubs to begin using Horton as more an opener (2-3 IP), then have Assad (once he returns) piggyback.

Cubs just can’t hit.

- PCA pinch hit for by Tucker… ouch

- Tucker is def losing money right now. Not doing his job at all.

- Shaw is our hottest hitter.

What a crazy season. Mets and Yankees in free fall too.

Cubs went from leading the division at the allstar break, to being 6 back behind the Brewers (tied for biggest lead in the MLB). Yet the biggest move at the trade deadline was that they resigned Hoyer.

Did Reinsdorf buy the Cubs and no one noticed?

I'm wondering if Tucker should have been on the IL when he hurt his finger back in early June or whatever it was. He hasn't been the same since, and was just hearing that apparently his bat speed has been down since around that time

Big win and I might start to forget some of the recent losses if they can win the rubber match against a great Blue Jays team. And thank God Amaya just has a sprained ankle. I was just starting to think the ship might be righted with Amaya and Assad back, but more importantly, Berti was DFAed.

Horton continues to dominate and look like an ace.

Need this series win.

Cassie coming up to debut in his native Canada. Hope he plays and hits a bomb. That’d be much more than PCA and Tucker have done in the last month.

What a wild season. I can see us missing the wildcard and also finding our bats again and winning the NL and going to the series. We have a lot of pitching coming back.

In a game where we needed more than a single run to win, we had guys on 2nd and 3rd, no outs, and the next 3 guys proceed to strike out.

Yep, that's kinda how things have been with this team lately. Forget about the Brewers. We just need to win a good series, and it kinda makes being quiet at the trade deadline look more and more careless.

Yeah, another dropped series. I can't remember the last time they won a series. Maybe against the White Sox.

We are heading towards a bitter end to the season.

But hey, I am sure glad Jed Hoyer got that extension he did not deserve.

Cubs just flat out suck right now. Lost another one today, to a team almost 20 games under .500 because they couldn't score more than 2 runs. It's like the bottom just fell out of their offense.

-Chicago Cubs
-Post All-Star break collapse

name a more iconic duo. it'll be very hard for them to miss the postseason this year though. Mets will probably return to form but I don't see the Reds passing them.

edit: I guess the 2023 collapse came in September and the 2024 one was in May

Return to Chicago Bulls
