I may pick up a voucher and keep it as a souvenir

Vouchers will be available starting this Friday, Aug. 15 for pick up at restaurant locations for those who want to savor the moment and enjoy a delicious George Webb hamburger at a later date. Redeem it between Aug. 25–29. A limited menu will also be available on the giveaway day with great deals on extra burgers, fries and drinks.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Who are the 4th and 5th OF with Perkins and Collins out? Vaughn has played the most OF, so maybe Contreras, Seigler, or Durbin will get some innings at 1B. I think Dunn would be the next option on the 40-man roster, but are there any better candidates for a brief call-up who aren't on the 40?

Steward Berroa is the only other OF on the 40 man roster. Tyler Black has also played some OF. I'd imagine atleast 1 of them gets called up

Did something happen to Collins?

I saw the Perkins news and random twitter commentary suggests that maybe it isn't just 2-3 days on bereavement to an 85 year old grandpa's funeral, it may be something worse. Random speculation, but if true, I hope he's OK...if true it's longer-term, though.

For all of this, I guess it's nice to have an 8 game lead now. I'm not sure I'd play Vaughn out there ever, but if there are roster reasons why they may not want to call anyone up or want a bat in the lineup for a certain game, they could probably get away with it during these 2 weeks until some guys come back/rosters expand.

EDIT: I now remember seeing that Collins will be there for the birth of his child.

So does he eat his older, 7 year old burger now and update his burger with the new one?

Looks like you called it. I had literally no idea whatsoever who Steward Berroa even is before this morning when I checked the 40, so... safe to assume he'll OPS 1.450 while he's up?

I swore I saw Berroa with the Timber Rattlers in the game I went to a few weeks back. Checked box score from late July and it was indeed him, lol.

Obviously I think he starts in AAA next year after surgery, but if he bounces back and shows good stuff, he has to be traded, right?

It will be interesting to see how Collins plays down the stretch. I think Mitchell’s only path will be if Collins’ stretch here ends up just being a random hot streak. I think Mitchell is ultimately moved at some point post rehab.

I dunno, kinda think Mitchell has as much raw talent as any of them and could peak at a Carlos Gomez level if he ever stays healthy. Also, there will always be injuries to open up playing time, and Perkins turns 29 in less than a month so he's far from a lock as a long-term piece. And Collins played a ton of 2B in the minors, so that could be another way to get regular at-bats for everyone instead of using some poopy combination of Monasterio and Dunn when Turang is sitting or maybe spelling Ortiz. Finally, I think Yelich has been low-key trash in LF all year and should be a full-time DH as soon as possible. I don't really think Mitchell is blocked long-term, unless you mean not having a guaranteed role on opening day.

I really want to keep Mitchell, but I'll trust their judgment regardless. I'm guessing that none of them have any options left though?

It’s that kind of everyday intensity—that combination of completeness, personality, and talent—that has allowed the team to win 29 of its 34 games since Brandon Woodruff was activated on July 6. The only teams who have been hotter than them over an equal span since those 1947 Yankees are:

The 2017 Cleveland team (best 34-game span: 31-3, Aug. 24-Sept. 28)
The 2017 Dodgers (30-4 Jun. 7-Jul. 18)
The 2022 Dodgers (30-4 Jul. 4-Aug. 13, almost exactly the same time of year)
The 1977 Royals (30-4 Aug. 17-Sept. 20)

Milwaukee joins these teams as the others to run off 29 wins in 34 tries in even semi-integrated play:

1953 Yankees & Dodgers
1954 Giants
1984 Tigers
1985 Yankees
1998 Yankees
2001 Mariners
2001 & 2002 Athletics
2013 Dodgers

That’s a total of 13 other teams whose company the Brewers join. Now, here’s the very important question everyone is asking, mostly with a rhetorical slant and a slight smirk: Do these Brewers really belong alongside this collection of teams? That Tigers team got off to a famously phenomenal start and proved the greatness of not only Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker, but Jack Morris, Kirk Gibson, Willie Hernandez and (because he was proving he could win it all with a whole new batch of players, after the Big Red Machine) Sparky Anderson. The 1954 club was the best of Willie Mays’ Giants teams, and it came the year after the co-occurring peaks of the Stengel Yankees (Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford) and the Jackie Robinson Dodgers. The 1998 Yankees and 2001 Mariners, you know the stories there. How can you not be romantic about the Moneyball A’s teams? And then this Dodgers dynasty, the heirs to the throne vacated by Atlanta in the mid-2000s and the Yankees after 2009. You’d wonder where the Big Red Machine itself or an Earl Weaver club or two was, but otherwise, this is a list of the best teams ever. Is it remotely reasonable to let the Brewers slide past this particular velvet rope?

I’ll start at the end, to spare us both the suspense: Yes. It is. As preposterous as it sounds on the surface, this is one of the great teams of all time. Many fans (especially those outside the Midwest) refuse to accept that; they’re only hurting themselves.

When I see Moneyball (amazing movie, not hating on it) mentioned I just think about how much more compelling this team is than the 2002 A's as an underdog story. They were obviously pioneers in multiple ways but the movie really plays certain parts up while ignoring things like the A's having 3 established CYA candidates on the roster already.

Idk where this team ranks among the best of all-time but I have a hard time believing any team has done more with less.
