Looks like KP playing well again.

He had 20 points against the win over Slovenia.

Yeah, but if he's still sick I doubt he scores 20.

All I'm saying is it's looking like he's not sick anymore.

While I agree with your sentiment about Simons and letting it go, I’ve heard lots of people say KP needs to learn to rebound.

IT4 might have been the worst defender in the history of the league, some people here still want him to have a statue.

Maybe we can have a statue like the one of Red, but it is of IT4, with a little Anfernee Simons sitting on his knee and looking up in admiration.

That's the punchline.

Because he showed heart and was a dirt dog. When you think about it it’s the same logic that people have with Smart. Two completely different players but both guys who were good at times but their reputation makes you believe that they deserve to have their numbers in the rafters.

People liked Kemba and praised him, Kyrie too before he did what he did. Neither were defenders. Kyrie could defend, but didn’t. I remember most of us believing he would when he came here. Nope, playing with heart wasn’t a criteria. Being good offensively was, it washed anything else away. I used IT4 because he was the worst ever. I don’t ever recall us picking up a 20pt per game scorer with as many complaints as there are now about defense.

I don’t believe it’s the money. The money doesn’t even matter atm, to the owners, as long as they deal with it by the end of the season. I have never seen so many people concerned about owners saving money, if it is the reason. They usually say it’s not their money or something along those lines. I have my thoughts on why, 2 reasons, but saying it isn’t necessary for this convo.

Because the Simons hate has nothing to do with Simons as a player or even human being. It's the segment of Celtics "fans" that fetishes seeing the Celtics lose to acquire mythical ping pong balls that hate on him. They see in him the embodiment of Boston trying to stay competitive this season.

No ty. People take things too far. Will turn discussion into bashing. I’m just saying the reasons given don’t add up. They can feel how they want to, but the math is not mathing.

Do you guys think 15 is going to be vacant until the end of the season or are we adding someone from camp?

I think it will stay open unless we are shocked by a camp performer. Highly unlikely. I think we let go of JD to keep it open all season. Camp guys are going to Maine if anything.

I think 15th spot is open because if/when they trade Simons it will probably be a 1 for 2 or 2 for 3 deal. Don't see the Celtics filling the 15th spot until the Simons situation is resolved.

Simons just isn’t as good offensively as those other guys either, is the main problem. If he was $30M wouldn’t be an issue. But even those guys aren’t the types of players I prefer. Kyrie is another level than the rest so I was on board (after initially hating trading the pick).

It’s also weird to cast vague insinuations on other people’s motives and then not say what they are. Why can’t people have basketball reasons for not preferring a particular player without it being something shady?

It’s not shady it’s just not being said, using things that don’t add up instead. It’s my opinion of what’s going on, not that it’s true. There are a lot of things I don’t say as a mod, because people will derail the thread.

It’s just weird calling out defense as though it’s a major flaw that they never allow. Sure, Kyrie is generational. (Not in that bucks series but w/e) Kemba and IT4 were very talented scorers, made more marvelous because of size, but there isn’t a chasm between them and Simons or many of the other scoring non defenders, especially because one was probably the worst defender in history, while Simons is bad, and the other wasn’t much better.

Anyway, I’m done. It’s not that serious.

People were all over IT and Kemba here as defensive liabilities that would get hunted in the playoffs. It wasn’t waved away for them either. Plenty of people complained about that. Kyrie too but he was generationally good offensively, so he got more leeway. And I’d argue there indeed is a chasm between those guys’ careers (peak only for IT) and Simons’ best season to date.

If you don’t think the arguments add up, respond to a specific one and ask for clarification. The “oh there must be something else going on” but I can’t say cuz I’m a mod thing is useless at best, presumptuous and insulting at worst.
