- Extend PJ for the Max: (4/88,762,438)
- After 9/7, flip C. Martin / J. Hardy / O. Prosper / PHI ‘30 2nd / 7.964M CC to UTA for K.J. Martin & K. Love
- This deal saves 25M+ in payroll and luxury tax payments this year—and that’s after accounting for the ~8M sent out via cash considerations. It also offloads roughly $16-21M in non-rotational payroll for ‘26-‘27 as well.
- Gives us even more flexible contracts to trade at the deadline if the right opportunity presents itself and opens up a spot for Exum

Opening Day Depth Chart:

PG: D. Russell (25) / D. Exum (10) / B. Williams
SG: K. Thompson (30) / M. Christie (20)
SF: C. Flagg (30) / N. Marshall (20) / K. Martin
PF: A. Davis (35) / P. Washington (30) / K. Love
C: D. Lively (20) / D. Gafford (20) / D. Powell

At TDL:

- Flip D. Gafford / M. Christie / B. Williams / LAL ‘29 1st / DAL ‘32 1st Swap / DAL ‘32 2nd to IND for A. Nembhard & J. Huff
- If you can find a taker for DLO great, if not he’s fine as Kyrie insurance.
- Obviously IND is disinclined to move Nembhard, (esp given the role they’re expecting of him this season) but if they can get a haul like this and he doesn’t significantly over-perform this Fall, IND has got to at least consider an offer like this.
- Still preserves our ability to send out 3 1st round picks via trade this summer (‘26, ‘31, ‘33) if the right young cornerstone guard becomes available.

Post TDL Depth Chart:

PG: K. Irving (30) / D. Russell (5) / D. Exum
SG: A. Nembhard (30) K. Thompson (25)
SF: C. Flagg (35) / N. Marshall (20) / K. Martin
PF: A. Davis (35) / P. Washington (30) / K. Love
C: D. Lively (25) / J. Huff (5) / D. Powell

Why would small azz Nembhard start over Klay at SG?

Not realistic, but I wish we could turn Gaff into Ivey with something like

Gaff to Indy, Toppin to Det, and Ivey to Mavs

But dont think Gaff alone could fetch that. But then trade Martin for a backup C, we have a much more balanced team and Kyrie and Day to Day with a young core of Flagg-Lively-Ivey

Yup I'd love Ivey here. I've brought him up multiple times as a target earlier in the offseason.

DET likely would need more back. On our side though, I'd like him as the target to eventually replace Kyrie and also big enough to play with him now.

WHat do you think about Devin Carter? Would love to take a chance on him

Gaff to Indy
Toppin to Sac
Carter to Dallas

Then trade Naji or Caleb for a backup center. But really Lively and AD should take the vast majority of minutes there, with PJ and Flagg getting plenty of time at the 4

Devin Carter has talent but he hasn't shown enough for this to be worth it. Imo B-Will is better right now though I can see Carter having a higher ceiling. The fact that SAC is willing to trade him to make room for Westbrook is very concerning especially.

I think if there's a trade between these teams, something like the following could make sense:

DAL receives: Monk
SAC receives: Toppin + C. Martin
IND receives: Gafford

DAL gets an explosive creator, clears some salary and gains roster space to sign Exum or a backup big. SAC gets bigger wings that can fit the team. IND get a starting level center. SAC should probably get a SRP or 2 also.

I was thinking of that exact one too, but the more I think about Monk, the less I like him. He's never really contributed to winning and cant do much besides shoot. Whereas Carter is still a relative unknown.

Sacramento also gave up on Hali quickly, so in their specific case, I wouldn't put as much stock in worrying about giving up on a guy so soon.

I prefer Gaff over a small guard who can't shoot and can't defend.

Monk is available, I'd trade Gafford for him.

If Sac is paying for the Saric dump sure, but I wouldnt for the Mavs. The only other concern is Monk should start over Klay, but you know Klay would whine his way to Nico if it was even suggested

Yeah Sac pays it, I prefer him as a 6th man.
